Reddit user Fair-Salamander9069 was impressed to discover an abandoned and unclaimed Gym in the ocean. The screenshot they shared shows the spot on the map surrounded only by water and explains that they could walk 10 minutes to the next pier, possibly to take control of the place. They also say that it has been gray for days, indicating no trainer has become a leader. Depending on whichPokemon GOfactionthe player belongs to, a Gym can appear blue (Team Mystic), red (Team Valor), or yellow (Team Instinct).

Gyms are a core part of thePokemon GOexperiencebecause they’re not just about battles between trainers. By interacting with them, trainers unite to take part in Raid Battles, which are found on the game map, or appear as part of an event. Gyms are also home to Elite Raids, which are identified by a red egg at the top. These raids are harder than the regular ones and happen much less frequently. There are also Mega Raids, which feature battles with Pokemon in their Mega Evolution form.
Although the October events are starting to wind down, trainers of Niantic’s game still have raids to battle. TheMythical Pokemon Darkraiwill be the highlight of the Raid Hour on October 30 and will be in the 5-star raids from October 28 to November 4. Mega Sableye will be available until October 28, with Mega Banette taking place until November 4. With the confirmation of the November event calendar, Raid Hours featuring critters like Dialga (November 6-27), 5-star raids with Lugia (November 4-18) and six other Pokemon, and Mega Raids with Mega Salamence (November 11-18) and Mega Ampharos (November 18-27) will be available.
