Summary
Pokemon GOplayers are voicing their complaints regarding the mobile game’s new Gigantamax battles. The upcomingPokemon GOfeature was just barely revealed, but many players are clearly not thrilled with the way that it will be implemented.
Dynamax Pokemon and battles were introduced toPokemon GOfairly recently, giving players a chance to make select Pokemon temporarily grow huge while doing battle. The rollout was long awaited, with Niantic delaying the release of certain Pokemon and game elements like Dynamax so as to not run out of official content from the main games. However, plans to implement the new Gigantamax feature aren’t being received well.
Pokemon GOwill give players their first chance to fight Gigantamax Pokemon battles starting on October 26, but the details surrounding it are upsetting players right now. Players have taken to social media to complain about the six-star Max Battles and the suggestion that anywhere from 10 to 40 players will be needed to take down thePower Spot bosses. Numerous trainers have pointed out that they’ve never even seen the usual maximum of 20 players outside of events like Pokemon GO Fest, and it’s leading some to believe that these fights won’t be manageable for most players, especially those in rural areas.
Some Players Resent Need for Gigantamax Battles
Pokemon GOis introducing theoriginal Kanto starters in Gigantamax formvia this method, but those who have already gone through the trouble of getting a Dynamax version of the pocket monsters aren’t happy. At this point in time, Niantic has given no indication that Dynamax Pokemon can be upgraded to gain Gigantamax forms. In other words, players who have already spent time, effort, and candy catching and upgrading their Dynamax Pokemon would have to go through a similar process all over again with the Gigantamax versions. Several players in these situations are giving up on the idea of going Gigantamax and aren’t interested in participating in the battles.
Pokemon GOhas made an effort to return to in-person events, raids, and social participation, but some have said that the game hasn’t ever really returned to its former social glorybefore COVID-19 changed everything. If these Gigantamax battles turn out to be impossible for most players, hopefully Niantic will make a quick change to make it more practical to try and participate in them. However, players already seem wary of that possibility as well, with some suspecting that it will be monetized in some way.
