For fans of the Galar Region, it’s a great time to come back to or start playingPokemon GOas after a lengthy wait, the missing critters from the 8th generation’s Pokedex are now available to find within the AR mobile game. The latest season ofPokemon GOis titled “Max Out,” and has seen Dynamax enter the game, along with the Galar starters, Legendaries, and the return of the relevant regional forms, such as Galarian Ponyta, that were added back in 2019.
Max Out will be going until December 3, and the current event adds Zacian to raids, with Zamazenta about to follow behind it on October 4.Zacian’s event has been titled Legendary Heroes, and it gives players Timed Research, Collection Challenges, and a few bonuses alongside it as they aim to complete the tasks offered before the event ends. One of its many bonuses involves bringing back Galarian Weezing for a limited time after the evolution was previously unavailable. However, that comes with its own pros and cons during what is already a tough time for many players.
The Legendary Heroes event inPokemon GOis only active for about six days, with it wrapping up on October 1 at 8 PM local time, which gives players a relatively small window to get Galarian Weezing which has only been made available in specific events for the last five years. Since the last time that the form was easy to get, Koffing has been made into a possible Shadow Pokemon players can get from Team GO Rocket grunts. This means that fans can evolve a Shadow Koffing into Shadow Weezing if they have one on hand, with the variant of the Poison/Fairy-type freshly added just in time for Legendary Heroes' opportunistic window. The addition may seem rather straightforward, but it wasn’t announced ahead of the event.
This highlightsa prominent problem withPokemon GO’s event structurein that there’s a very small window to get Galarian Weezing that’s closing fast. Players who are aiming to collect every possible Shadow Pokemon may find themselves in dire need of finding a Koffing in time if they’ve transferred any extra ones they’ve had in the past.
How Galarian Weezing Points Out the Frequency in Which Players Get Left Out
Situations like the one with Legendary Heroes aren’t uncommon in Niantic’s game, with long-term problems such asrural-area players droppingPokemon GOdue to the very few interactions they have in their area and non-social players being left out of raids and trading challenges regularly. It’s great that Niantic is going back and making sure that Shadow Koffing is viable for the limited-time evolution, but having a six-day window to evolve a Pokemon may feel drastic for some as not even Community Day has dared do such a thing, sticking to only offering limited-time moves for the entire day.
Players have been left with no choice but to somehow hear thatGalarian Weezing- and even the unannounced Shadow Galarian Weezing - is available just in time to get it, or panic while trying to find it and possibly fail before the event ends. It isn’t a great position to put players in on Niantic’s end, nor is it one that will excite players to come back for more with the next event. Hopefully, the next time a change like this is made toPokemon GO, the change will be more publicly stated in some way so those who desire to claim the evolution or Shadow Pokemon in time can do so without stress.
