Pokemon GOis never short on special events for its players, and that includes its upcoming Wild Area event. As usual during aPokemon GOevent, players will have a limited amount of time to take advantage of everything the Wild Area event has to offer, so they would be remiss not to know what’s coming ahead of time.
Pokemon GO’s Wild Area event begins at 10 a.m. local time on November 23 and will last until 6:15 p.m. that evening, with November 24 following suit. During the event,Pokemon GOplayerscan expect a wide variety of features, including a new Poke Ball, event-themed Pokemon appearances, new avatar items, and more.
Everything to Know About Pokemon GO’s Wild Area 2024 Event
The Event Will Feature Mighty Pokemon, a New Poke Ball, and a Pokemon GO Debut
To kick up the challenge duringPokemon GO’s Wild Area event, the game is introducing Mighty Pokemon, which are more powerful than standard Pokemon. Specifically, Mighty Pokemon have an increased chance to have high Attack, Defense, and HP ratings, are more likely to be XL or XXL, and may be more difficult to capture. Players will also have a chance to findShiny versions of Mighty Pokemonduring their travels, so they may want to use the Wild Area event’s new GO Safari Balls to capture them.

GO Safari Balls are veryeffective Poke Ballsthat should help with capturing the most stubborn Pokemon, but players will need to acquire some first. Once the event begins, all players will get the opportunity to complete a Timed Research task that rewards GO Safari Balls when finished, and they have a chance to obtain even more by spinning PokeStop Photo Discs. Finally, Pokemon GO Wild Area: Global ticket holders will be granted a Timed Research task every hour during the Wild Area event that will allow them to acquire even more GO Safari Balls, but they will need to act fast, as these tasks expire after an hour.
It’s worth noting that GO Safari Balls are temporary and will disappear from players' Item Bag at 6:15 p.m. local time every day while the Wild Area event is live.
Pokemon GO’s Wild Area event will also see thePokemon GOdebut of two Pokemon, Toxtricity and Dynamax Toxtricity. Players will be able to encounter Toxtricity by completing Max Battle encounters, but Dynamax Toxtricity can only be encountered when players complete Six-StarMax Battlesduring the Wild Area event and when they complete a Special Research task. Toxtricity will also be featured in Four-Star Raid Battles during the event.
Various Pokemon Will Make Special Appearances During the Event
Origin Forme Dialgaand Origin Forme Palkia will appear in Five-Star Raid Battles duringPokemon GO’s Wild Area event. If players defeat and manage to capture them, they can trigger special Adventure Effects when Origin Forme Dialga uses Roar of Time and Origin Forme Palkia uses Spacial Rend outside of battle.

Timer for Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Lucky Eggs, and Star Pieces is paused for 6 minutes.
Timer can be extended in 6-minute increments for up to two hours by using more Stardust and Dialga Candy.

Players can encounter Pokemon at an increased distance for 10 minutes.

Pokemon GO’s Wild Area event will also feature an abundance ofElectric and Poison Pokemonappearing in two unique habitats, with those habitats rotating every hour while the event is live. Mighty Pokemon will have a chance to appear in any habitat, and there is always a chance that players might encounter a Shiny version of the event-themed Pokemon.

Pokemon Will Take on Various Cosmetic Appearances During the Event
As usual during aPokemon GOevent, some Pokemon will take on unique cosmetic appearances while the Wild Area event is active.Pikachu Pop Star and Pikachu Rock Starare returning during the event for the first time since 2021, and players may be able to encounter Snorlax wearing a studded jacket as well. Pikachu Pop Star, Pikachu Rock Star, and Snorlax wearing a studded jacket also have a chance to appear in their Shiny form.
The Event Will Include Several Other Bonus Features and Items
Pokemon GO’s Wild Area event will also include several bonus features and avatar items for players to take advantage of. Only one avatar item — thePokémon GOWild Area 2024 Tee — has been revealed so far, butdeveloper Niantichas implied that there may be more added later. During the event, however, players can benefit from the following bonus features:
Pokemon GO Wild Area Paid Ticket Holders Gain Access to Exclusive Rewards
Pokemon GO’s Wild Area event paid ticket holders will be getting the most out of the event thanks to a vast array of exclusive features. Firstly, they will be granted access to aSpecial Researchstory that allows them to choose between an Electric or Poison-type path. Secondly, players who purchased a Pokemon GO Wild Area: Global ticket before October 22 and played the game anytime between October 15 and October 22 will receive Timed Research that awards the Toxel Mask avatar item once completed. The additional bonuses for paid ticket holders are as follows:
