Pokemon TCG Pocket Needs Halloween Boosters at Launch
Pokemon TCG Trick-or-Trade Boosters Grant Halloween-Themed Cards
Beginning in the Halloween season of 2022,Pokemon TCGlaunched a special edition series of mini booster packs called “Trick-or-Trade,” each pack featuring Halloween-themed artwork or reprints of popular cards with spooky motifs. The series was originally designed to serve as a replacement for Halloween candy and quickly became a popular limited-time event amongPokemonfans. Each Trick-or-Trade booster pack generally includes dark-themed orGhost-type Pokemonand, like Halloween candy, is marketed in a large bag, allowing for easy distribution to trick-or-treaters.
The first Trick-or-Trade event in 2022 featured reprints of spooky cards likeGastly, Haunter, and Gengar, along with some non-themed cards like Pikachu and Cubone. Other cards like Mewtwo, Spinarak, and Ariados were also available, as well as Dusknoir and Darkrai. The event continued in 2023 with many of the same cards, then reprinted yet again. However, several new cards were added that year, and several were also left out. Mewtwo was one card left out for 2023’s edition, but other cards like Runerigus and Lycanroc were added. Of course, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar all made a return as well, and each card in the set included a special Pikachu pumpkin near the card’s artwork.
The event has continued in 2024 with reprints ofPokemoncards from previous Trick-or-Trade editions, including Pikachu and Mimkyu. Additionally, for the first time, several cards in the Trick-or-Trade set are printed on cosmos holofoil paper. Those include Sinistcha, Teal Mask Ogerpon, Pikachu, Mimikyu, Munkidori, Fezandipiti, Flutter Mane, Okidogi, Gengar, and Darkrai. Needless to say, it’s almost always an exciting event for fans of thePokemon Trading Card Game, as its limited-time nature makes obtaining each of the cards all the more appealing.
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Launch Date Is the Perfect Reason for It to Include Trick-or-Trade Boosters
WithPokemon TCG Pocketlaunching on October 30, just one day before Halloween, and granting players two free booster packs a day, it’s arguably sitting on a gold mine when it comes to the Trick-or-Trade booster packs. It would be remiss not to feature a special event that allows players to open packs from the Trick-or-Trade series, as it would be a great way to tie the mobile game in even more with the tabletopPokemon TCG.
It would also be a way forPokemon TCG Pocketto connect with players celebrating the Halloween season, along with giving them special cards to remember the game’s launch.
At the very least, even ifPokemon TCG Pocketdidn’t follow the Trick-or-Trade series to a tee, it would be missing a prime opportunity by not offering players a chance to acquire Halloween-themedreprints ofPokemoncardsfor a limited time after the game’s launch. There is currently no information about whetherPokemon TCG Pocketwill feature such an event, but that doesn’t mean it’s entirely out of the question.
