The game eventually became playable on modern Xbox consoles through backward compatibility, but largely stayed stuck on its original hardware.

Unfortunately, the PS4 and Switch version of the critically-acclaimed game proved to be pretty expensive, retailing for $49.99 despite having been over 13 years old at that point. Unsurprisingly, the Steam version ofRed Dead Redemptionis launching with a similarly high asking price.

The 14-year-old game will set Steam users back a whopping $49.99 if they buy it at launch on October 29. PC gamers that have been waiting over a decade to playRed Dead Redemptionmay have no problem with such a high price for an old game, but others will definitely not be happy, especially since the PS4 version is currently available at a discount.
It’s unfortunate that PC gamers had to wait such a long time to playRed Dead Redemptionin the first place, especially since its story continueswhereRed Dead Redemption 2left off, andRDR2has been available on PC for years. Unless they looked up spoilers, PC gamers have been left wondering what was next in the story. The bad news is that PC gamers are going to have a similar wait ahead of them when it comes to Rockstar’s next game,Grand Theft Auto 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6is most likely skipping PC at launch, and in fact, has so far only been confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X. AGTA 6PC port is bound to happen eventually, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath that its launch date will coincide with the console versions.
