Of all the gory slashers that have been released over the last few years,Terrifier 3is often cited as a truly dark and violenthorrormovie.But while fans have likely heard that audiences are feeling sick and leavingTerrifier 3screenings, a Redditor shared that this might not actually be the case.
In early October 2024,Redditor @Sorry_Sorry_Im_Sorryposted in a thread in the horror SubReddit and said that the marketing company behindTerrifier 3invited people to a screening of the movie. However, people weren’t told what the movie was beforehand, so when people did walk out, it was because they were unaware of the content they were about to watch. People were simply told it was an unrated movie that was also a “holiday” story. WhileTerrifier 3is about Christmas, it’s definitely scarier and gorier than a regular, heartwarming holiday tale.
The Redditor wrote:
“everyone at the screening assumed it would be a certain upcoming PG-13 big-budget Christmas movie. NO ONE in expected it to be a splatter/horror film.”
SincetheTerrifierfranchise isn’t mainstream, not everyone is going to enjoy it, whether they like horror movies or not. The Redditor explained thattwo people left the firstTerrifier 3screening and almost half left the second one. They also explained that the marketing agency wanted “reactions” from audience members and hoped to get clips and soundbites for the horror film’s trailer. The fan wrote:
“While I can’t say if anyone got sick, there were walkouts sure cause some people just aren’t into horror films (the opening 10 minutes is pretty graphic).”
It’s interesting to hear this Redditor’s experience since, according to several publications includingLAD Bible, audience members have thrown up or needed to leave the theater when seeing this upcoming horror movie. LAD Bible reported thatnine people left the first U.K. screening of the horror movie. Regardless of how often this is actually happening,Bloody Disgustingreported thatthe Classification Committee in France has decided thatminors can’t seeTerrifier 3.While some would argue that the film should have less blood, fans who are used to watching this type of storytelling aren’t bothered by it. Many fans also argue that if anyone is familiar with theTerrifierfranchise, then they aren’t surprised by the amount of gore when they head to the movie theater.
Like the previous two movies,Terrifier 3was written and directed by Damien Leone, and it will be released on October 11th, 2024. Since fans know thatthere will be aTerrifier 4, time will tell if there are reports of audiences leaving screenings of the fourth movie as well.
