Summary

Some PlayStation fans that pre-ordered thePlayStation 5 30th Anniversary Editionhave reported that their pre-orders have been canceled. Sony is celebrating 30 years of PlayStation in many ways, with one of the biggest being the release of brand-newPS5hardware that mimics the look of the original PlayStation console.

The30th Anniversary line of PlayStation hardwareincludes specially-themed PS5 controllers as well as themed consoles. Sony is making 30th Anniversary Edition versions of all three PlayStation 5 consoles, meaning fresh looks are on the way for the standard PS5, the Digital Edition, and the super-powerful PS5 Pro. Unfortunately for those that have attempted to pre-order the 30th Anniversary Edition consoles, there have been problems with the pre-orders.

The latest retailer accused of canceling PS5 30th Anniversary Edition pre-orders is Argos. Argos, a retailer based out of the UK, has reportedly started notifying impacted customers that their pre-orders have been canceled. Upset customers have taken to social media to complain about this unfortunate turn of events. However, not all Argos PS5 30th Anniversary Edition pre-orders have been canceled. The problem seems to mainly be impacting those that pre-ordered the Digital Edition, which is thecheaper variant of the PlayStation 5that comes without a disc drive.

Argos Has Canceled Some PS5 30th Anniversary Edition Pre-Orders

A similar problem happened last month to those who thought that they managed to get the 30th Anniversary Edition PS5 Pro console pre-ordered. While some still have their pre-orders for the 30th Anniversary version of the PS5 Pro console, others were notified that theirpre-orders had been canceled. While no exact reasoning has been given for any of these cancelations, the presumed theory is that there simply isn’t enough stock to fulfill the pre-orders. This is certainly frustrating for fans who thought they were getting a 30th Anniversary Edition console, especially since scalpers have already listed them for ridiculous prices online.

Scalpers havelisted PS5 30th Anniversary Edition consoles for ridiculous prices online. But with the 30th Anniversary Edition consoles said to be limited edition, some hardcore PlayStation fans may feel like paying scalpers is their only recourse. Hopefully, Sony sees the incredible demand for the 30th Anniversary Edition consoles and decides to restock.

The good news is that there aren’t similar problems impacting the base version of the PS5 Pro. Even though it sold out through PlayStation Direct fairly quickly, the PS5 Pro is still readily available from various retailers. It may not be the 30th Anniversary Edition, but at least those wanting the new console don’t have to deal with scalpers just yet.

PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition

Small enough to fit into more entertainment centers, this console makes no compromises with stellar 4K gaming performance, Ray Tracing, and 120 Hz refresh rates. This version of the PS5 Slim without a disc drive includes a generous 1TB of storage, expandable up to 4 TB with separately purchased SSDs.
