Summary
Brighter Shores, the upcoming MMO fromRuneScapecreator Andrew Gower, has been delayed by just one day for a surprising reason. Previously,Brighter Shoreswas penned for release into Early Access on November 5, althoughRuneScapecreator Gower has decided to shift it to November 6.
IfBrighter Shorescan have even half the impact thatRuneScapehas had over the years, it will be a massive success. Initially launching at the start of 2001,RuneScaperemains one of theoldest MMOs still active today. It retains an active community across bothRuneScape 3andOld School RuneScape, with Gower’s legacy in the industry well and truly secure. Gower has not been involved withRuneScapesince 2011, although he did return to design the Gower Quest in 2016. In the years since, Gower has founded Fen Research, the studio behindBrighter Shores.
Gower has been slowly tweeting his progress onBrighter Shoresfor a few years now, initially teasing a brand-new engine that would go on to be used for the upcoming MMO. His latest update revealed that Fen Research has decided to push the Early Access release ofBrighter Shoresby just a single day, moving from November 5 to November 6. According to Gower, the reasoning is “some sort of election thingy on the 5th,” of course referencing the 2024 United States presidential election. It’s a day that will naturally bring a lot of noise, so it’s understandable that Gower doesn’t want the launch of his title to get lost if it wants to establish itself as one of thebest Early Access games on Steam.
Brighter Shores Delayed By One Day Due To US Presidential Election
Brighter Shoreswas first announced back in March, and even with this delay, it isn’t long before players can finally try out Andrew Gower’s first game release sinceRuneScape. The art style ofBrighter Shorescertainly resembles that ofRuneScape, and many of the game’s main tasks, such as cooking, mining, and woodcutting, will all be familiar to players of the MMORPG. It could definitely be a conscious choice - there are plenty of gamers looking forgames likeRuneScapein 2024, trying to recapture that nostalgic feeling from decades gone by.
With a few weeks to go before the release ofBrighter Shores, it could be a great opportunity to hop back intoRuneScapefor the time being. It remains one of thebest free-to-play MMOs evermade, and Jagex continues to update bothRuneScape 3andOld School RuneScapewith frequent new content to enjoy. WhetherBrighter Shorescan live up to its legacy remains to be seen.
