Summary
Konami and Bloober Team may work together on another project onceSilent Hill 2launches. According to a recent report from the dev,Silent Hill 2could end up just being the beginning of collaboration between the two companies.
Bloober Team had big shoes to fill when it was chosen to be the development studio tocreate theSilent Hill 2remake. The game is one of the most-loved entries in an extremely popular survival horror series, and recreating it has no doubt been a difficult task. However, it seems that Konami and Bloober are both enjoying the partnership, if a new interview is anything to judge by.
In an interview withbankier.pl, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno suggested that this may just be the beginning of the developer and publishers' partnership. While the majority of the interview discussed finances of the company and its potential earnings from the game, Babieno noted that Konami has apparently been very happy with the results of the collaboration. Babieno said that the company expects that “this is not the end of theadventure with Konami.” While it’s not much to go on, the indication that Konami is pleased enough to potentially pursue more projects with Bloober Team is exciting to hear.
The Future of Konami and Remakes
At the time of writing, aside fromprematurely released copies ofSilent Hill 2, gamers haven’t gotten their hands on the game yet. From a player’s point of view, it remains to be seen if the game lives up to the hype, but the trailers and productions have looked promising. However,Silent Hill 2is just one of the projects that’s breathing new life into an older title from Konami.Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eateris also in the works, remakingMetal Gear Solid 3. Interestingly, Konami chose to developMetal Gear Solid Deltainternally, whereasSilent Hill 2was handed off to Bloober Team. As neither of these games have launched yet, it will be interesting to see how the remakes differ.
With that said,Metal Gear Solid 3andSilent Hill 2are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes toKonami classics that deserve a second life. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bloober Team and Konami, but it’s possible the studio could find itself working on anotherSilent Hill,Metal Gear, or evenCastlevaniaif the partnership proves fruitful. With any luck,Silent Hill 2will live up to the expectations of long-time fans of the series and invite newcomers to one of the scariest survival horror franchises around.
