As you explore the fog-enshrouded setting ofSilent Hill 2 Remake, you will comeacross many puzzles. Some are fairly simple, while others have steps that will take awhile to complete. Sometimes you’ll have to solve one puzzle to be able to get the piece you need to solve another. Whether you are in the relatively normal version of the town or the sinister, rust-covered version of it, you will inevitably come across a puzzle that stands between you and your search for Mary.
The clock puzzle is one such example of these puzzles, and in order to solve it you will need to thoroughly explore every floor of Bluecreek Apartments. If you are struggling to find one of the clock hands or aren’t sure where to place them, here is how you can solve the clock puzzle.
This puzzle was completed on normal difficulty. Solutions will vary on easy and hard.
Where to Find the Clock
Not long after you arrive in Bluecreek Apartments, you will come across a large clock in Apartment 212. There is also a save point in this room, so verify to use it before proceeding. To the right of the save point is a table with a note that says:
Henry fears Scott, he’ll run from him and hide,
But here comes Mildred, with unknown intent,
Scott lies face down, blind to her descent.
At present, the clock does not have an hour hand or minute hand. In order to fully solve this puzzle you will need to find both. Your first priority will be to find the hour hand as you cannot progress without it.
Where to Find the Hour Hand
Head up to the third floor and enter Apartment 307 where you will see a radio caged and suspended up in the air by three large chains. At the end of each chain is some machinery controlled by a rusty, red valve. The first spot is in the same room as the radio, but it doesn’t have a valve. Ignore this one for now, and head to Apartment 305 where you will find a valve.
Turn this valve and then kill the enemies that spawn. Before leaving Apartment 305, look for a table where you will find the key for Apartment 306. Use the key to unlock Apartment 306 and proceed onward to eventually reach Apartment 304 where the next valve is. Once you turn this valve, it breaks off of the machine, allowing you to take it.
Head back to Apartment 307 and attach the valve to the last machine. Turn it and head back to the radio. Once you interact with the radio, you will obtain the Hour Hand.
Where to Find the Minute Hand
While you don’t have the Minute Hand yet, you can use the Hour Hand to unlock another room. Head back down to the clock and attach the Hour Hand to the clock. Rotate the hand until it is at nine. This unlocks Apartment 210. The door to this room has a large “H” carved into it.
There are several points of interest in Apartment 210. The first is the seesaw, which is missing two bird shapes that can be inserted. The second is the cracked wall in the kitchen which can be broken with a couple of melee attacks. Focus on the kitchen wall first to enter the bathroom.
Approach the toilet and interact with it to search it. Keep pressing the search button each time you are prompted and you will obtain the Minute Hand. Unlock the door to the bathroom, and head out into the hallway. Take outthe Lying Figurethat approaches and then pick up the Pigeon Figurine from the nearby shelf.
Once you obtain the Minute Hand, the door that you used to enter Apartment 210 will block itself off. Fortunately, you can find another way out by solving the seesaw puzzle.
From there, head to Apartment 209 to obtain a Malformed Figurine Part. Next, go to Apartment 211 to obtain a Wooden Swan Head. Both the Malformed Figurine Part and the Wooden Swan Head can be combined. Return to the seesaw and insert both figurines.
You will then need to adjust the position of the figurines so that the seesaw is perfectly balanced. To do this, move the swan to the left two holes and you will get the Winged Key. This key can be used to unlock the door that is next to the seesaw.
How to Get Back to the Clock
In the next room, you will see a large hole in the floor. Jump down to reach the first floor of Bluecreek Apartments. Go through the hole in the wall to leave Apartment 110. Head up toward Apartment 109 and enter one of the rooms inside to trigger a cutscene.
Pick up the knife and the key that are on the table and then head to the other end of the hallway past Apartment 111. Use the key to unlock the door and go through the hallway on the other side. Make note of the door that has “S” carved on it. Continue through Apartment 101 and eventually you will come across a stairwell. Head up the stairs and you will have successfully returned to the second floor.
Enter the room with the clock and then attach the Minute Hand. Move the Minute Hand to two to unlock Apartment 202.
Apartment 202
On the wall is a plaque with three dead moths on it and around the room are displays with more dead moths. There is a combination lock with equations to determine the code. The trick to this puzzle is to pay attention to the number of symbols on each moth. There are also dead moths on the wall in Apartment 201, which can be entered by breaking the wall next to the display of dead moths in Apartment 202.
In total, there are two skull symbols, five circle symbols, and eight crescent symbols. The digits for the lock can be figured out with the following equations.
By entering this code in, the door will open, and you will be able to progress. Beyond this door is a small room with a suspicious hole in the wall. Interact with it and search it every time you are prompted. After the third prompt, you will obtain the Second Hand. Return to the clock once again and attach the Second Hand. Move the Second Hand to three, and you will have successfullycompleted this lengthy puzzlein its entirety. The next step will be to return to the first floor where you saw that door with “S” carved into it.
