All Requirements for the UFO Ending inSilent Hill 2Remake

The UFO ending inSilent Hill 2requires players to meet a few requirements and find a few specific spots in the game, but it’s nothing compared to the lengthy andrisky processof some of the main endings. Here’s a quick overview of everything players need to do:

Start a Playthrough in New Game Plus

After players have completed their first playthrough ofSilent Hill 2, they can enter the Main Menu and select New Game. Doing so will provide them with different options like difficulties, as well as the option for New Game Plus. Players mustprogress through a New Gamein New Game Plus if they want to find the necessary items for the UFO Ending.

Pick Up the Blue Gem at East Side of South Vale’s Jewellers

Once players have defeated their first enemy and have free roam of the East Side of South Vale, head up Neely Street and go past Big Jay’s. On one of the buildings to the right, there will be a Jewellers, and when smashing the display window to the right of the shop, there will be an open wooden box that holds the Blue Gem. Simply interact with it to pick it up.

Use the Blue Gem on the Saul Apartments Rooftop

With the Blue Gem in hand, players will need to head down to Saul Street, still on the East Side of South Vale, and venture through the Saul Street Apartments until they reach the rooftop. Once on the rooftop, players will briefly hear a strange noise. Players can enter the inventory and select their Key Items, where they will want to Examine the Blue Gem. Doing so in this spot will cause the Blue Gem to emit a noise and a bright light, showcasing that players have correctly activated the first spot to use the Blue Gem. Now, progress through until meeting Maria, after Blue Creek Apartments.

Use the Blue Gem at Rosewater Park’s Pier

Once players meet up with Maria after Blue Creek Apartments, they will want to head to the right area of Rosewater Park, immediately. Standing on the Rosewater Park Pier, enter into the Key Items of the inventory and click Examine on the Blue Gem. This should emit yet another glowing light and strange sound from the gem. Players can now progress through the West Side of South Vale and the majority ofSilent Hill 2’s chapters until they reach the Lakeview Hotel area.

Use the Blue Gem at Lakeview Hotel’s Dock

Once players have traversed Toluca Lake and entered the Lakeview Hotel Dock, players will want to immediately enter their inventory, pull out the Blue Gem, and examine it like the two times before. Doing so emits the familiar sound and beam of light, and now players can progress through the Lakeview Hotel chapter until after they solve theMusic Box Puzzle.

Use the Blue Gem in Lakeview Hotel’s Room 312

After completing the Music Box Puzzle, players can take the key to 3F and enter Room 312. However, players do not want to use the Videotape. Instead, once players enter Room 312, pull out the Blue Gem for the fourth and final time and examine it. After examining it, players will immediately enter the cutscene that will show them the UFO Ending, and the credits will roll soon after.

UFO Ending, Explained

As James ignores the Videotape of Room 312 and instead heads outside to the balcony, he manages to draw the interest of a flying saucer above. This then converts the ending into a pre-1940s TV serial, with a story told through black-and-white images and text, whereSilent Hill 2(2024) James Sunderland meets…Silent Hill 2(2001) James Sunderland?

The PS2/original James is called Space James and informs the PS5/remake James that he is a clone. A classic small gray alien zaps James, and both the alien and Space James take James back to their spaceship, back home, wherever that may be. PS2 James looks longingly at the Lakeview Hotel, saying one last word before the credits roll: “Mary…”

The ending is as silly as it gets, with the meeting of the original PS2 render of James and the modern PS5 model. It’s a joke ending that shouldn’t be taken seriously, but by all means, if players want this to be the canon ending to theirSilent Hill 2playthrough, then so be it.
