The Sims 4remains quite populareven a decade after its launch, with regular content updates and a hardworking modding scene keeping the game fresh after all these years. However, there are still some odd moments lingering in the programming of the game. Glitches and bugs have been present in nearly everySimtitle, at least at release, but this odd visual glitch is nonetheless alarming when it transpires.
Reddit user GetScaredGirl shared the moment of regret when they asked theirSim toddlerto stand, only for the child to morph into an upright, stretched-out, creepy version of itself. A single screenshot shows the toddler standing up looking closer to the height of a full-grown Sim, but with parts of its body completely out of proportion due to the toddler model being stretched into the size of an adult. Amusingly, the child looks quite pleased with itself as it pulls off what the player asked for, but clearly, the player wasn’t expecting it to happen like this.

Fans in the comments have had plenty of laughs at the sight of theSims 4child glitchand the player’s reaction to it. Several players said that they still regularly see this glitch happen in their own copies of the game, while others recalled similar glitches happening inThe Sims 3. In that title, even the pets were sometimes subject to a similar bizarre glitch. For whatever reason, it’s as though the games are giving animation data from an adult to a toddler, and instead of it being scaled down to the child’s skeleton, it remains full-sized, making them look horrific.
While moments like these typically don’t get in the way of gameplay aside from the moment of alarm they can trigger, some players are fed up with the bugs in the game. This particular bug has been in the games for so long that it seems highly unlikely that it will ever get an official fix. Several took the opportunity to discuss how disappointed they are thatThe Sims 5is canceled, pointing to issues like these as proof thatThe Sims 4needs to be replaced. While Project Rene is ongoing, it seems like that will likely be a multiplayer game more similar toThe Sims Mobilethan the mainline entries, so fans are currently stuck with any ongoing issues inThe Sims 4.
