Shattered Space, the highly anticipated first story DLC for Bethesda Game Studios’open-world space RPGStarfield, sees players travel to a once isolated and totally secret star system which is the capital of the mysterious and enigmatic House Va’ruun. Players can hope to findpowerful new weapons, brand new quests, and all new characters in this exciting new tale.
Players can start theShattered Space DLCforStarfieldby jumping to any random star system that doesn’t have a mission or other activity present. Once inside, the player will receive a mysterious transmission that begins the first main story quest of the DLC, What Remains. What Remains is a relatively straightforward quest, but it does have some tricky parts, so let’s take a look at how to complete What Remains, along with finding all four ofSirak’s logs, and earning the What Remains achievement.
How to Start What Remains
Jump to any star system without a quest or activity waiting in it to receive a transmission. Then, fly to and dock with The Oracle Star Station to begin the quest.
Explore The Oracle
Inside The Oracle is a pretty standard station, but exploration is made harder by the fact that it’s all in zero-G. Exploration is worth it here because there are all sorts of goodies tucked away in the various rooms of the ship, from weapons and ammo to suits and helmets - and heaps of credits too.
There’s only one way forward, and it leads to a story scene involving two scientists, Basira and Sirak. Loot the access card from Basira and then head into the station proper. At this point, there’ll be an update to the mission granting a main and an optional objective.
There’s no need to put off the main objective until the optional one is finished, though, because it’s easier to do them on the way. Trying to complete the optional objective first won’t work and will be a source of frustration because Log #4 is inaccessible without entering the Engineering Control Bay.
Find the Engineering Bay Controls
This objective is easy enough, as it’s marked with a mission objective on the HUD. Follow it to find then interact with the card reader to be given an updated objective to find.
Sirak’s Log #1 Location
The first of Sirak’s logs can be found just next to the main mission objective, but the player will be blocked from going any further due to security doors. Pick up the log and head back to the main room with all the blue glowing bits to find the second log, and to advance the quest.
Find an Engineering Bay Access Card
Once inside the main room, head out towards the big space directly in front, where there’s a big glowing ball of blue stuff surrounding a snake sculpture. There are some Vortex Phantoms here, so be wary, but they shouldn’t pose too much of a threat.
Sirak’s Log #2
Sirak’s Log #2 is right at the bottom of the main shaft, situated atop a lectern. Pick it up and head through in the direction of the mission objective.
Move through the mess hall/cafeteria type room and come out the other end where the corridor terminates at a security door. Next to the security door is a closed orange door. Go through it and enter the hydroponics room. Float down to the bottom of this room to find the way is blocked by crates.
Move the Crates
Go up the stairs to the little room on the right and enter it, then press the buttons to remove the crates blocking the way forward. Pressing Button 1 will release a Vortex Phantom. Go through the opened-up space to find a hatch defended by another Vortex Phantom.
Navigate the Residential Area
The hatch leads towards a residential area. The area has some decent loot, including some locked safeboxes, and lore notes, so it’s worth looting. Once that’s done, float all the way to the top to find a control room-type area.
Sirak’s Log #3
Sirak’s Log #3 will be on the right, inside a residential apartment type room. This close to it a mission objective should appear.
Grab the Access Card
Just up ahead along the same corridor is an office type space. This office space contains the Engineering Bay Access Card, but it also has some nice weapons and other things to loot. Head back through the corridor and open the security door for a shortcut back to the Engineering Bay.
Access the Engineering Bay
Head back through the cafeteria and up to the Engineering Bay. Retrieving the Access Card causes a few Vortex Phantoms to spawn on the way through, so be wary of attack. Once at the Engineering Bay unlock the door.
Restoring Power
Attempt to restore power, then ascend to the top of the engineering bay. The way forward will be locked by a security door, but just on the other side of the room is an additional room.
Sirak’s Log #4
Sirak’s Log #4 is on a table next to a computer in the next room. Grab it, then look for a door leading to another hallway.
Find the Power Receptacle
Move through the hallways and enter a room filled with floating trash bags. Then, at the end, cross over into a store room filled with floating bits and pieces. At the far end of this room is a power receptacle waiting for a Power Cell. It will take any Power Cell, so there’s no need to find a new one, but just in case, there is a Power Cell hidden within the floating garbage.
Enable Gravity
A security door will open, so head through it and watch the scene with Sirak. Then use the computer to re-enable gravity on the station. Head back down to the main power controls using the boost pack and switch on the secondary power.
Head back through to the main room and go towards the Operations Center. After the scene ends Sirak will attack. Kill Sirak and the other Phantoms, then ensure to loot Sirak for the Operations Access Card.
Reboot the Mainframe
Head to the computer to reboot the mainframe, then wait for the scenes to end. The station relocates to theHouse Va’ruun home system. The quest should be completed and reward a decent amount of XP and credits. Make sure to also loot the Industrial Crate inside the Operations Center, as it has a good amount of credits in it. Completion of What Remains for the first time onan unmodded savewill grant theShattered SpaceWhat Remains achievement.
