Summary

Finally, almost over two years since the official announcement that there would be more of the series to come, the release date of the upcomingSK8 the InfinityOVA has been revealed. Initially announced in August 2022, along with plans for a second season of the anime, a commercial revealed thatSK8 the Infinity EXTRA PARTwill premiere in select Japanese theaters on July 10, 2025, with a physical release of the 25-minute OVA coming on March 19.

A brand-new key visual was also released alongside the commercial. No information about the second season ofSK8 the Infinityhas been released as yet.

What Do We Know About SK8 the Infinity EXTRA PART?

It Will Be a Quartet of Short Stories

The upcomingSK8 the InfinityOVA will feature four different short stories centred on different characters from the series. They are as follows:

The OVA will be produced by staff at Studio Bones, with key staff members from the first season returning to the production side of things; including series creator anddirector Hiroko Utsumi (director,BUCCHIGIRI!?), with series composition by Ichirō Ōkōchi (script,Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection), character designer Michinori Chiba (character design; chief animation director,Basilisk), art director Yumiko Kondō (art direction,Bungō Stray Dogs), photography director Masataka Ikegami, 3D director Yōta Andō and veteran sound director Masafumi Mima. Other staff involved include scriptwriters Sei Tsuguta, for whom this will be their very first production credit, and Tsukasa Kondō (Japanese script,Scott Pilgrim Takes Off). The cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Langa Hasegawa, Tasuku Hatanaka as Reki Kyan, Hikaru Midorikawa as Kaoru “Cherry blossom” Sakurayashiki, Kenshō Ono as Tadashi “Snake” Kikuchi, Kenta Miyake as Hiromi “Shadow” Higa, Takehito Koyasu as Ainosuke “Adam” Shindō, Takuma Nagatsuka as Miya Chinen and Yasunori Matsumoto as Kojirō “Joe” Nanjō.

SK8 the Infinityfollows skateboarder Reki and snowboarding prodigy Langa as they are sucked into the dangerous, high-octane world of competitive skateboarding, where a no-holds barred downhill race called “S” takes centre-stage. The first season ran for 12 episodes from January to April 2021, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it aired. A manga spin-off was published on the Young Ace Up manga website in January 2021. No broadcast date forSK8 the Infinityseason 2 has been confirmed as yet.
