While the mod might not make a huge difference to new players, it could give those with hundreds, if not thousands, of hours in the game a new reason to play.
Skyrim Mirror Mode Mod Puts an Interesting Spin on the Game
Recently, MontyBellroy revealed the reason behind the project whenspeaking to GamesRadar+. According to the modder, the main impetus behind making the Mirror Mode mod was to create something that would keep the experience engaging for long-time players. They noted that Mirror Mode made getting lost inSkyrim’s expansive wildernessa possibility for experienced players since flipping the world horizontally can substantially change how things look on the screen. MontyBellroy even tested this mod on a friend, noting that “he would turn left instead of right and groan.”
According to the Nexus Mods page for Mirror Mode, the horizontal flip ofSkyrim’s open world was made possible by using a Reshade shader. Fortunately, the UI was not mirrored, meaning players could still read on-screen text. Despite the creator revealing the final result was a “little scuffed,” they said the mod is “100% playable” and “pretty neat.” So far, the Mirror Mode has been popular with theSkyrimcommunity, with oneReddit post about the modgaining thousands of upvotes.
