Summary
Prime Video’sSpider-Man Noiris already in production, starring Nicholas Cage. Some photos from the set leaked on social media, revealing Cage’s first look as Noir.
In May 2014, Cage was officially announced to play the titular character in Prime Video’s live-action projectSpider-Man: Noir. His casting was not a big surprise because in mid-2018 he was cast to voice the same character in the animated filmSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Cage’s vocal performance was well-received because he successfully captured the superhero’s gritty and noir-inspired tone. So,Cage playing Noir in the upcoming TV seriesis well-deserved, and fans are excited to see him in character. It seems that the odds are in their favor because there’s a photo circulating on social media revealing Cage’s first look as Noir.
Just Jared shared two snaps of Cage on theSpider-Man: Noirset onX, formerly Twitter. It appeared that his character was beaten because he is lying on the ground in one photo and had visible bruises on his face. Cage is in character wearing Noir’s signature trench coat. However, his aviator goggles and fedora were visibly missing, probably due to the fight scene. However, in another shot, Cage can be seen sitting on the steps wearing a trench coat and black fedora. Fans were happy to see Cage’s first look as Noir, and now they are wondering if he will wear a mask just like the typical Spider-Man.
Cage had previously talked about the Spider-Man Noir project withThe New Yorker. According to him, it will have “eight episodes” and is “more of a Pop-art mashup, like a Lichtenstein painting” with “some sparkle to it.” Spider-Man Noir is more violent than thetypical Spider-Man, and Cage admitted that he couldn’t relate to the character in that sense. “I don’t like violence. I don’t want to play people who are hurting people. One of the things that I like about this potential show is that it’s fantasy,” he explained. “It’s not really people beating people up. Monsters are involved.”
Cage’s casting inSpider-Man Noiris perfect because the character is an older private investigator. It is set in New York in the 1930s. He is from the darker and grittier universe, which transformed him into an aggressive and violentSpider-Manwhen it comes to fighting crimes. While the usual Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man fans see on the big screens, is dubbedthe “friendly neighborhood,“Noir doesn’t shy away from killing criminals using his pistols.

However, with Cage attached to the project, there’s hope that it will work this time. Also, even if Venom isn’t a huge success, it isn’t a flop either. Tom Hardy is reprising his role as Venom for the third time inVenom: The Last Dance, which is coming out later this month. However, Hardy said the movie series was only meant to be a trilogy, soit would be the last time for him to play the symbiote. Noir could be a fresh take of Spider-Man in the Spider-Verse, so let’s see if it will make a difference.
Spider-Man Noiris expected to premiere in 2025 at MGM Plus' linear channel and Prime Video.
