Summary
WhenStar Wars: The Acolytefirst hit Disney+ there was hope that the show would be different enough in tone and setting that it could be a real hit. It was after all, the firstStar Warsproject that didn’t include ties to the Skywalker Saga era, really ever. It was in fact set well before the Clone Wars trilogy, and because of that, seemed like it was something that could examine brand-new stories and characters, and timelines that hadn’t been covered on screen before.
Unfortunately,Star Wars: The Acolyte’s new setting and new characters were not exactly critical or fan favorites. Theshow ended up being canceledafter one season thanks in no small part to a rather over the top backlash from the fans that were not in favor of the new stories and settings and characters. While most of the show ended up being pretty unpopular, especially on social media and various websites, there was one character that was done well enough that he stood out. Referred to either as The Stranger or Qimir, this character was the best of the show and now thatThe Acolyteis over, it’s a shame he won’t be around anymore.
One Of The Big Bads In The Star Wars Universe
The Stranger commanded every scene he was in thanks in no small part to the fact that he wore a specialized cortosis gauntlet and a mask that was permanently twisted into a shape that looked like a toothy grin. The Stranger wielded a red-bladed lightsaber. That lightsaber and the fact that he was very gifted in the dark side of the force made somebelieve that he was a Sith, though he never owned up to that himself.InStar Wars: Acolytehe operatedamong the Jedi he went by the name Qimir and he posed as a kind of morally ambiguous but mostly cowardly merchant in somewhat desolate and nearly deserted system. It turned out that while Qimir was an alias he used, it doesn’t appear he ever let his real name to be known.
Qimir even hid his face from his apprentice, Mae Aniseya and only wore the mask when she was in his presence and wanted to be known as her teacher. It wasn’t untilnear the end of the seriesthat he revealed even to her that the person she thought of as a friendly acquaintance who was scared of the Jedi coming to the area was actually someone who was quite dangerous to Mae’s twin sister, Usha.
Acting as Qimir, he helped Mae start to exact her revenge on the Jedi order. She had a problem with them because she believed they had basically destroyed her family. Because the stranger had other motives for wanting todo battle with the Jedi, he posed as someone who had apothecary skills. On Olega, Qimir mixed a poison for Mae to use to try and kill Master Torbin. On another planet, Khofar, he helped Mae showing her a way through path in the jungle to reach the Wookiee Jedi Kelnacca’s hideout.
Qimir The Jedi Killer In The Acolyte
The Stranger is just one of the characters that was largely left in limbo when Star Wars: The Acolyte was canceled after its first and only season. It’s clear that the showrunners expected there to be more to this story consideringhow the season came to a close.

Qimir originally thought that Mae was going to become his acolyte. He would teach her how he hadbecome so powerfuland would essentially start the Sith order once again. However, when she realized that Osha was still alive, she went back on her deal with The Stranger and that kicked off a massive battle between the Jedi who were on a mission on the planet they were located.
The Stranger not only had a red light saber, he was also able to outduel several Jedi at a time and at one point, even used his helmet to headbutt a Jedi’s lightsaber in order to extinguish it. The Stranger ended up taking on a whole slew of Jedi, killing all of them to demonstrate just how powerfulhe was in this worldofStar Wars: The Acolyte.
Eventually, he runs across Osha who he takes with him to an unnamed world where he had been hiding out and formulating his plan. While on that world, the two shared their philosophies on the Force, their losses and everything that was wrong with their membership in the Jedi Order. Eventually he is able to convince Osha that she was always the sister that was meant to be his pupil and he eventuallytakes her as his Acolyte.
