The first DLC forStarfieldhas arrived, asShattered Spacebrings a new chapter to Bethesda’s space adventure.Shattered Spacefinally brings players to the mysterious House Va’ruun, which has been the biggest selling point for the DLC.Starfieldhad teased House Va’ruun and its worship of the Great Serpent, and the world of the cult-like group are now being put front and center.
Not only can players finallylearn about House Va’ruunand the group’s home planet, Va’ruun’kai, but there are two brand-new companions for players to recruit. These two characters are named Tane Salavea and Sahima Ka’dic, and depending on a player’s choices, they can become a permanent member of one’s crew.
Shattered Space’s Two New Companions Explained
Tane Salavea
Tane is a character who can be recruited depending on how a player goes about completingthe mission Conflict in Conviction. It’s possible for players to kill Tane, and if this is the case, he clearly is unable to be recruited to the player’s crew. However, if he lives, he can be assigned to outposts or the ship. He’s not always happy about joining the crew, though. If Vaeric is killed in Conflict in Conviction, Tane isn’t entirely thrilled about joining a player’s ranks, but he eventually agrees, since it’s his only way to get off Va’ruun’kai. So, if Vaeric is killed, there is a little extra trust building to be done, but he ultimately accepts the offer.

Sahima Ka’dic
During the Zealous Outreach mission, players can recruit Sahima Ka’dic into their crew. Just like Tane, Sahima can be killed by players if they choose to do so, but this can have pretty bad consequences. If players kill her, their standing with nearly every crew member goes down, andfellow House Va’ruun member Andrejacould possibly even leave the group. Unless one wants to play as chaotically as possible, saving Sahima is the right call, and it’s quite easy to get her to join the crew.

Shattered Space is a Mixed Bag, But New Companions Are An Upside
Starfieldlaunched to a rocky start, and it seems that its first DLC is facing the same fate. Currently, reviews forShattered Spaceare not boding well for the sci-fi RPG. Criticisms regarding lack of content continue, and this has also trickled over to their only being two companions available in the DLC. Although there are only two options to pick from, Tane and Sahima both have their respective strengths that can be useful for players who wish to build a specific crew.
Neither Tane nor Sahima are able to be romanced inShattered Space.
Shattered Spacemay not be for everyone, but those who love the base game will likely enjoythe brand-new DLC. With House Va’ruun being such a mysterious faction, many players will be excited to recruit active members of the group. Sahima and Tane both present beneficial skills for players to add to their ranks, and this is one of the biggest benefits of the expansion.
