Re:Zero’s newest season has so far garnered rave reviews from fans of the isekai anime, with Subaru Natsuki currently facing off against new and old members of the Witch’s Cult in the city of Priestella. While Subaru portrays the protagonist,much of the plot ofRe:Zerorevolves around the Royal Selection contest, where five candidates are currently in the process of duking it out for the crown of Lugunica.
In the race, each candidate has a knight acting as their right hand, being their sworn protector and advisor in the political race and battles to come. As it comes with their stations, these knights are regarded as some of the strongest fighters in the land, possessing rare skills that make them powerful and memorable in the anime.
8Subaru Natsuki
Newly Anointed Knight With Unique Power
The main protagonist, Subaru is one of the newest knights inRe:Zero, becoming Emilia’s sworn protector at the end of the Sanctuary arc in Season 2.After his ups and downswith the half-elf, Subaru’s love and admiration for Emilia leads to his new position, with his power of Return by Death being a significant factor in getting to where he is.
Giving him the power to redo his actions after dying, Subaru has altered many unfortunate situations that led to the demise of his comrades. With Return by Death aiding Subaru, the character uses the power to benefit Emilia’s Royal Selection case, with the confident character being the beacon of hope for many against the incoming evil.
7Al
Mysterious Individual That Protects An Evil Princess
Serving the vile and abhorrent princess Priscilla Barielle, Al is a knight who appears for only a couple of episodes, although the knight’s infectious attitude becomes immediately apparent. Although Al’s combat abilitiesare yet to be revealed in the anime, Al’s buff physique indicates the character’s strength, with the mysterious knight representing an important individual in the Royal Selection process.
While wearing a knight helmet to disguise his appearance, Al’s true purpose is sure to reveal itself later on in theRe:Zeroanime when interacting with Subaru and his friends.
6Felix Argyle
Talented Healer Who Is Loyal To Crusch
The quirky and comical Felix Argyle’s dynamicwith his leader, Crusch Karsten, makes for entertaining viewing, with Felix being one of the Duchess' knights. Alongside Wilhelm van Astrea, Felix strives to serve and protect Crusch from danger, specializing in healing through his Divine Protection of Water.
Using his powers, Felix provides effective healing when Subaru and Crusch take on the White Whale and later Petelgeuse Romanée-Conti and the Witch Cult. While not an out-and-out fighter, Felix’s talent as a healer and his active involvement in Subaru’s plans during Season 1 makes the character a strong individual who has made his mark inRe:Zero.
5Heinkel Astrea
Drunken Fool Still Handy With A Sword
The difficult and troubled Heinkel Astreahas been one of Season 3’s newest characters, acting as a divisive figure for Reinhard and Wilhelm. As a high-ranking knight who is Reinhard’s father, Heinkel abuses his power, making his relationship with his son difficult.
While not as strong as many in his family, as an Astrea, Heinkel still possesses excellent skills as a swordsman. Despite only being introduced recently, Heinkel is a character significantly tied to Reinhard and Wilhelm, with the family’s relationship set to be an essential plot point of the season.
4Julius Juukulius
Proud And Uptight Knight That Seeks Honor And Respect
On Subaru’s journey, no character grinds his gears more than Julius Juukulius, Anastasia Hoshin’s loyal knight. While the pair butt heads, resulting in one-on-one combat,Subaru and Julius unite to defeata common evil, the Witch’s Cult. In Julius’s endeavors, the knight begrudgingly teams up with Subaru to take down a portion of the Witch’s Cult, including Petelgeuse, using Julius' unique skills.
Utilized in the battle, the knight’s skillful swordplay is enhanced by his Divine Protection of Gathering Spirits, granting Julius the aid of nearby spirits in offense and defense. Along with his spirit powers, Julius' use of Nect enables the knight and Subaru to defeat Petelgeuse in combat, with Julius using Subaru’s vision to show the villain’s unseen hands.
3Wilhelm van Astrea
Veteran Swordsman That Sought Out Revenge
InRe:Zero, no character is as epic when in combat as Wilhelm, Crusch’s trusty ally. As a member of the van Astrea family and a former knight, Wilhelm, like many others, possesses incredible skill with a blade. While an old man, Wilhelm is still formidable in combat, especially when involvedin the takedown of the White Whale, one of the three great Witchbeasts.
Due to the death of his legendary wife, Theresia van Astrea, caused by the White Whale, Wilhelm vowed to get revenge, with the aging swordsman being the one to deliver the final blow, resulting in Wilhelm furthering his legend.

Former Sword Saint And Legendary Fighter
Before Reinhard inherited the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint, its wielder was Theresia, his grandmother. Married to Wilhelm, the knight is regarded as one of the greatest fighters to have ever lived. Before the events of the anime, Theresia helped end the Demi-Human War,proving her valor and abilityin battle. As a member of the famed van Astrea clan, Theresia was always set for a life of combat, with many in her family following the way of the sword.
Although Theresia falls victim to the White Whale, the character is still thought of in high regard, with her beloved husband, Wilhelm, still cherishing his wife, vowing to get revenge in her honor.

Blessed Swordsman That Is Unbeatable
In all ofRe:Zero, no knight is as fearsome across the land of Lugunica as Felt’s sworn shield, Reinhard. Ranked as one of the strongest fighters, Reinhard is a member of the famed van Astrea family, where the young knight inherits the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint.
As the current holder of the power, Reinhard can see incoming attacks and their trajectories, making him almost undefeatable in combat. Showcasing his skills against Elsa Granhiert and a ferocious and out-of-control Puck,Reinhard has proved to be a mighty knightwho can defeat any individual in a fair fight, proving to be a valuable asset to Felt.
