Summary
The latestTekken 8update patch is now live, adding new playable character Heihachi Mishima alongside a handful of quality-of-life improvements.Tekken 8was already well-regarded when it launched back in January, and Bandai Namco Studios has been fine-tuning its latest 3D fighter with numerous downloadable updates. There have also been a few DLC additions toTekken 8’s roster, bringing back fan favorites like Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska.
One character from past entries that players probably didn’t expect to see again was Heihachi Mishima, as the evil patriarch of the ever-feuding Mishima bloodline was seemingly killed for good at the hands of his son Kazuya at the end ofTekken 7. DespiteTekken 8producer Katsuhiro Haradaoutright declaring Heihachi “completely dead"ahead of the game’s release, it seems like the archvillain isn’t as deceased as previously believed. In July, Heihachi Mishima was confirmed as the thirdTekken 8DLC character, and soon he’ll be back to take his revenge on those who stand in his way.
Earlier today, Bandai Namco Studios released the officialTekken 8Update 1.08 patch notes ahead of its launch. This patchadds Heihachi Mishima as a playable characterfor those with Early Access via theTekken 8Year 1 Character Pass, with everyone else gaining access to him on October 4. Heihachi isn’t the only new content being added in Update 1.08, as the Genmaji Temple arena is also being made available for purchase.
Tekken Update 1.08 Adds Heihachi, New Shop Items and More
An alternate story mission centered around the three currentTekken 8DLC characters titled “Episode: Unforgotten Echoes” is also being added, and they will all be playable in it even if the player hasn’t purchased them yet. There is also a wide assortment of new cosmetic items being added to the Tekken Shop, includingtwo free promotional Nike items, the “Grim Reaper Pack” and “Seductive Pack,” a Heihachi-themed item, and a crossover with the Gentle Monster eyewear brand that is free for all players.
Other new features being introduced throughTekken 8’s new Update 1.08 include the ability to display any character in the game’s main menu screen through a new setting in the Options menu, a new Tekken Dojo practice stage that will let twoTekken 8players train together online, the ability to view other players’ characters and ranks, and adjustments to online Ranked Matches, Quick Matches, and Practice rounds.
