Evolution cards, when they first came out, were absolutely busted inClash Royale.Barbarians were the first card to get the Evo treatment, and suddenly, everydeck in the top ladderhad this five-elixir card even when it didn’t make much sense. Fast-forward to today, and we have more than 25 evolution cards in the game, with more being added with each new season.
With so many evolutions, players naturally get a lot of options with which to experiment. However, this also begs the question: which of these evolution cards is the best? The short answer is that it depends on the deck. Looking closely at things, some Evo cards stand out from the pack for being more versatile. We’ve compiled a list of the top Evo cards in the game for players wondering which Evolution cards they should unlock next.
Best Evolution Cards in Clash Royale
These are the best Evolution cards that are available right now inClash Royale:
3
Identical to the base card
2
Evolution Ability
The Evo Firecrackers' projectiles leave a puddle that damages troops every 0.25 seconds for up to 3 seconds.
When it first came out,Evo Firecrackerwas undoubtedly the most busted evolution card in the meta. Every single deck used the card, even when it made no sense. The surprising part is that people were still winning consistently with it even when it wasn’t a good deck for the card.
Of course, like any other broken card, balance changes came, and Evo Firecracker got hit with the nerf hammer. Despite that, for Hog or Goblin Drill players, the Evo Firecracker is still a strong troop to add to their army because of its unique effect. Evena few X-Bow decksuse it as their main damage source for defense. The damaging puddle from its projectiles can take out small troops and also eat away at the enemy tower if you manage to get a connection.
Each damaging puddle of the Evo Firecracker deals separate instances of damage.
Much like the Evo Bomber, the Evo Firecracker can act as a secondary win condition if you use it properly. If you manage to outcycle your opponent’s Arrows or Fireball, attempt to protect the card to keep the pressure up on your opponent.

Spawns a new Skeleton every time one of the Evo Skeletons attacks. Stops spawning at 8 Skeletons.
Released in June 2023, theEvo Skeletonshave been a mainstay for mostClash Royalecycle decks because of their versatility. The base Skeletons card is excellent in its own right. you may use it for cycling through your deck, defending a Hog push, kiting a Pekka, or trying to DPS down a Royale Giant — the possibilities here are endless!
The Evo Skeletons multiply each time one of the Skeletons hits an enemy troop. This unique ability makes them excellent at defense. If the opponent doesn’t take them out with a spell orsplash-damage troops like the Witchor Baby Dragon, they can stop almost any big push single-handedly.
Be careful when using Evo Skeletons against a Mother Witch, since she can spawn infinite Cursed Pigs from the multiplying Skeletons.
Not only that, if you manage to get them to your opponent’s tower, they can multiply and take down the tower all on their own. Since it costs only a single elixir to deploy and requires only two card cycles, it’s easy to get to your Evo Skeletons when you’ve gota fast cycle deck.
When moving, Evo Knight gains a shield that reduces incoming damage from all sources by 60%. The shield disappears when a unit comes within Evo Knight’s attack range.
Evo Knightcame out a month after the launch of Evo Skeletons, and like its predecessor, it has quickly cemented itself as one of the best Evolution cards to grace the arena. Before the evolution, the base Knight was used in only a handful of decks inClash Royale. However, once the Evo came out, it quickly replaced Valkyrie, Dark Prince, and Mini-Pekka as the top mini-tank card in the game.
The damage-blocking shield that Evo Knight comes with is deceptively strong. If he’s walking down one lane, even an Inferno Dragon can’t kill him if he’s not attacking other troops. you may use the Evo Knight to kite air troops to another lane against a Lava Hound or Balloon deck.
As a mini-tank, Evo Knight can apply a lot of pressure on the opponent if he’s tanking for something like the Goblins or Evo Skeletons.
The Evo Knight is also great against siege or Sparky decks since it can tank massive damage when you place it on your side of the bridge.Against big beatdown decks, put it behind the enemy win condition to distract all the support troops they use while also distracting the tank with your defensive buildings.

Whenever Evo Pekka deals the killing blow to a troop or building, it heals 1/10th of its original HP. It also gains extra health if it’s already at max HP.
TheEvo Pekkais a recent release, joining the arena just last month with the Season 63 Fight Night alongside the Evo Mega Knight. While the Evo Mega Knight is also a decent Evo card, it’s not on the same level as the Evo Pekka. Its Evo ability is unlike anything in the game, and it is one of the most bustedevolution cards you can unlockright now.
The base Pekka card boasts massive damage and HP, but its biggest weakness is that it gets distracted easily. Because of its slow movement and attack speed, it’s already at low HP by the time it kills anything. Against a decent player who knows what he’s doing, getting the Pekka on the tower is pretty much impossible.
With Evo Pekka, you’ll want to have an attack reset on your deck, like a Zap orElectro Dragon, to reset the Inferno Tower.
The Evo Pekka solves that problem to some extent. The healing effect makes the Evo Pekka a much bigger threat than the base version. Your opponents can no longer counter it with Skeletons since the Pekka will heal off them. Goblins are also ineffective for the same reason.

When Evo Tesla surfaces, it creates a pulse of electricity that stuns and damages a large AOE around it. The effect activates again when the Evo Tesla is killed or times out.
Evo Teslawas the first building card to get the Evo treatment inClash Royale. When it first came out, it was extremely broken, allowing players to defend massive pushes with just four elixirs. Although nerfs have tamed it a bit, in the right hands, it’s stillone of the strongest cardsin the game.
Tesla was always a decent defensive building, dealing respectable damage and hiding under the arena to dodge spell damage when no enemy troops were nearby. However, players still preferred to use an Inferno Tower or Bomb Tower since they just dealt more damage and had more HP.
Evo Tesla will always create a damaging pulse when surfacing to attack.
With the Evo upgrade, the usage of Evo Tesla saw a steep climb. The damaging pulse could not only damage enemy troops, but it could also apply a reset, making it an excellent counter to cards like the Mighty Miner, Inferno Dragon, or even theX-Bow decks in the meta.
The Evo Bombers' attacks bounce twice behind the initial target.
Bomber isn’t a card that was used in a lot of decks inClash Royale. Apart from ahandful of Golem decks, nobody cared much for the card. That all changed once theEvo Bomberentered theClash Royalearena. For just two elixirs, this card offers an insane level of damage output.
The unique effect of the Evo Bomber allows you to use it as a secondary win condition in your deck. you may use the card with Golem decks, Goblin Drill decks, oreven Hog cycle decks, offensively and defensively. His attacks have a good splash radius, and the damage output is also pretty impressive for such a cheap troop.
Evo Bomber is usually paired with a Tornado to line up shots on the enemy tower.
The card has been nerfed a lot, but it’s still a decent card in today’s meta, fitting in with plenty of decks used in the top ladder. It doesn’t die to Zap or The Log, which means your enemies will have to use Arrows to take it out or play it safe whenever you put an Evo Bomber on the field.
When the shield of an Evo Royal Recruits is knocked off, the unit starts charging after moving 1.5 tiles, dealing double damage to the first unit that it hits.
Royal Recruitsis one of the most annoying cards to face inClash Royale, even without its evolution. This is the best card in the game at applying dual lane pressure and the charge effect from the Evo variant can be extremely punishing on your opponent if they slip up on defense.
The biggest strength of this evolution card is its singular evolution cycle. That means every second Royal Recruits you deploy will be the Evo variant. Once the game hits the double-elixir stage, and you keep cycling one Evo Royal Recruits after another, it’ll be extremely exhausting for the opponent to defend against your attacks.
All six Evo Royal Recruits get the Charge ability.
Despite being such an excellent evolution card, Evo Royal Recruits fits in only with specific decks designed around it. As such, you’ll want to be careful with which cards you place in your deck if you want to get consistent wins with this card.
Evolution cards add a lot of dynamics toClash Royale, and whenever a new Evo comes out, the meta shifts drastically. People try out new combos and find interesting ways to utilize the evolutioncards in their own deck variants. This is what makesClash Royalesuch a fun game to play!
