Summary
The Infernal Horde is an endgame activity introduced in Season 5, available for both Seasonal and Eternal realm characters. Once players level up a character to World Tier 3, they may start the Infernal Hordes quest line. During this, players will collect Infernal Compasses, which act as keys to start an Infernal Horde scenario.
Aside from managing the Skill Tree and Paragon Board, picking the right weapon typefor each character’s play style is vital. Since the Infernal Horde is Endgame content, effective weapon combinations are the most important in creating synergy. Due to the sheer number of enemies and increasing difficulty, players should maximize their damage output and survivability.
10Maces
Back-Up For Crushing Enemies
Barbarians, Druids, Necromancers, and Sorcerers can wield maces. Druids and Barbarians benefit greatly, with only the Barbarians able to dual-wield them. Depending on the class, maces have modifiers that increase the player’s offensive or defensive abilities.
Maces usually share the same speed as swords, making them effective at consistently dealing damage. Applying Aspect of Inner Calm will increase damage and triple the bonus after standing still for a few seconds. Depending on the build, either rubies or emeralds are best to socket into maces.
9Polearms
Poking At A Distance
Barbarians, Druids, and Spiritborn can use polearms. Polearms fit better in Druid and Spiritborn classes. Polearms are two-handed, with bonuses to offensive and defensive capabilities and resource regeneration. Polearms are among the slower weapons to use but can soften the horde with vulnerable damage.
Druids can utilize theirShred skill with the Stormclaw Aspectto spread lightning damage to surrounding enemies upon each critical strike. Socketing a BacWat Runeword into a polearm is the best way to poke the Infernal Horde from a distance.
8Two-Handed Mace
Greater Damage For Greater Foes
Barbarians, Druids, and Necromancers can wield two-handed maces, with Barbarians and Druids usually benefiting the most due to increased area-of-effect damage. Barbarians can use a two-handed mace in aHammer of the Ancients buildto drastically increase the radius of their attacks, annihilating the Infernal Horde.
Druids can achieve a similar effect with their Pulverize skill and the Shockwave Aspect, dealing damage in a large cone-shaped area and a shock wave that hits enemies twice. LithWat or BacWat Runewords socketed in a two-handed mace evokes the Necromancer skill Horrid Decrepify, which slows enemies and reduces their damage.
7Two-Handed Axe
Cleave Through Crowds
Only Barbarians, Druids, and Necromancers can use two-handed axes. Barbarians and Druids find the most use. Two-handed axes deal massive damage with every strike and have the potential to cleave through multiple enemies with one swing.
The Ancients’ Oath finds itself in many Barbarian builds due to its cooldown reduction, extra damage to close enemies, and bonuses to the Steel Grasp skill that pulls more enemies closer. The XolXal Runeword socketed into a two-handed axe allows the player to evoke power from another class and gain a temporary boost to maximum life.
6One-Handed Sword
Versatile Weapons For DPS & Resource Regeneration
Every class except for the Spiritborn can wield one-handed swords. Barbarians and Rogues can hold a one-handed weapon in each hand. Both Rogues and Barbarians benefit the best from one-handed swords. Most swords enhance Basic Skill damage, cooldowns, and generate fury for Barbarians.
Most popular builds involve forming a synergy withRamaladni’s Magnum Opus in one slotto promote increased weapon damage per point of Fury held. The best gems to slot in swords are emeralds, ensuring the Infernal Horde thins out with every critical attack.
5Two-Handed Sword
Twice As Deadly As One-Handed Swords
Barbarians and Necromancers have access to two-handed swords, with both classes benefitting greatly. Two-handed swords offer a range of bonuses and stats, ideal for players who want to deal massive damage with every hit or gain area-of-effect attacks.
Necromancer players benefit greatly from Aspect of the Great Feast, which can be attached to their two-handed sword and buff their minions, making the Infernal Horde manageable. Depending on the build, slotted sapphire or emerald gemswork to Crowd Control enemies and cause bleeding area-of-effect damage.
4Dagger
Faster Speeds Means More Chances Of Hitting
Only Druids, Rogues, and Sorcerers can wield daggers, but Rogues utilize them the best. Daggers assist in enhancing skills while engaging in close-quarters combat and have the fastest attack speeds compared to other weapon types.
Daggers leveragespeed and generate Combo Points. They expand upon various Skills, as with the Umbracrux, creating an attackable Shade Totem that explodes into area damage. Socketing emerald gems in any dagger is the best move, and when paired with the Condemnation, players will see massive critical hits with every swing.
3Bow
Essential In Keeping Distance
Only Rogues can wield bows, dealing damage from afar with bonuses to critical strikes or speed. While bows are only half of the Rogue’s arsenal, bows are important for stacking precision and spreading vulnerability. In the case of the bow Windforce, it contains a Lucky Hit stat that increases the chance to deal double damage and knock back the target.
The bow is essential in keeping the Infernal Horde from advancing too close and provides great damage over time before necessitating close combat. Emerald gems fit best here to promote better critical hits.
2Quarterstaff
Hitting Hard With Outstanding Buffs
The quarterstaff is exclusive to Spiritborn, a class added in the Vessel of Hatred Expansion.Since the Spiritborn easily ranks S-Tierin terms of best classes, the quarterstaff gives players better chances at surviving the Infernal Horde. Quarterstaves inherently block damage and raise the chances of blocking.
If players can find the Rod of Kepelekeor the Sepazontec, they can withstand the onslaught of the Infernal Horde. For the sake of maximizing critical damage, players should socket emeralds into their quarterstaves.
1Staff
Perfect For Various Classes & Builds
Staves are exclusive to Druids, Necromancers, and Sorcerers. Sorcerers utilize them the best by enhancing their spells. The role of staves is to buff the user’s spells and area damage, as seen with the Staff of Endless Rage, which launches additional projectiles and increases their speed and damage.
For the Infernal Horde, Sorcerer players should build around Lightning Spears with a staff that enhances critical hits and causes lightning to arc over to other enemies. The best gems to socket in staves are emerald or amethyst, depending on the build.
