The First Descendantlaunched on July 2 with mixed critical reception, and the developers at Nexon Games worked on improving the game with bug fixes, balance adjustments, and new content updates during the pre-season and Season 1.Season 1 ofThe First Descendant, titled Invasion, began on August 29 and introduced playable sniper Hailey, a new seasonal Battle Pass, new dungeons, and much more. Two more updates were planned for Season 1, but Nexon Games decided to restructure the season’s update schedule in order to release a large-scale update on October 10. This change was made after fans voiced their frustration with time-gated content, which included the release of Ultimate Freyna. The developers ofThe First Descendantare also taking feedback into consideration for changes and content coming in Season 2.
In a newcommunity Q&A, Nexon Games confirmed thatThe First DescendantSeason 2 will begin on December 5 and feature two new playable Descendants, one male and one female. Another Ultimate Descendant will be added to the roster as well, and Nexon Games aims to give players a “broader range of weapons and Descendants” going forward. Customization will also be improved in Season 2, with new appearance options like alternate hairstyles, dyes, and attachments for all characters. Like Season 1, Season 2 will bring new endgame content, including new boss types. Quality of life changes will be introduced to help new players complete early story missions and unlockDescendants Enzo and Gleymore quickly.
Nexon Games Reveals Plans for The First Descendant Season 2
Another major addition inThe First DescendantSeason 2 is a pity system for loot drops, which will address some concerns players had about drop rates throughout Season 1. According to Nexon Games, a “Target Reward” system will let players earn guaranteed rewards after a set number of attempts, instead of relying on the drop rate. In Season 2, Enhanced Shape Stabilizers will be new limited-time event rewards that increase the chances of earning rare items fromAmorphous Materials inThe First Descendant. These changes should make farming sessions more fair and rewarding for all players.
Nexon Games also teased its plans beyond Season 2, including grappling hook and mobility improvements and an increase to overall combat density. Some of these medium to long-term changes are still under consideration by the team, so it’s not definitive until future patch notes or another Q&A confirms what will be changed at a later date. Fortunately, it’s clear thatThe First Descendant’scommunitywill have a lot of content to play through in the remainder of the year and well into 2025.
