Summary
TheOne Pieceanime is at a critical juncture. Currently, it is focused on the fight between Monkey D. Garp and Kuzan. The two know each other from their time in the Marines. In the past, Garp acted as Kuzan’s teacher.The Vice Admiral taught himways to improve physical strength without using Haki or Devil Fruit.
Kuzan continued to train with Garp for years until he was promoted to the position of Admiral. The promotion limited the time that Kuzan could spend with Garp. However, he continued to respect his teacher Now, after all the years of serving the same organization, the two were reunited under drastic circumstances. Garp was trying to rescue his new student while Kuzan was on a mission to keep Koby on the island.
How Garp Vs. Kuzan Started
As previously stated, Garp and Kuzan had different positives. The latter was desperate to prevent Koby from escaping the island. Meanwhile, Garp was dead set on freeing Koby and taking him back. The early exchange between the two legendary Marines was dominated by Monkey D. Garp. He used his experience and power to send Kuzan crashing. However, the former Admiral wasn’t going to stop so easily.
As the fight continued, it became increasingly clear that Garp would win handsomely. However, the shifted in Kuzan’s favor when the Blackbeard Pirates began to intervene.
A Job Too Difficult Even For A Legend
The Blackbeard Pirates are amongthe most ruthless and sadistic groups in One Piece. Like most pirates, they do not hesitate to cheat to win. So, it’s hardly surprising that they tried to gang up on Garp and target his weakness. They know that the Vice Admiral cares about his underlings, and he will protect them at all costs.
The pirates lured Koby into a trap, giving Shiryu the perfect opportunity to wound the young Marine. However, Garp sensed something was off, and he arrived in the nick of time to push Koby away. Unfortunately, he couldn’t prevent Shiryu from stabbing him. Garp received a big wound near his abdomen, and he was bleeding profusely. The blood loss weakened Garp, and it gave Kuzan an excellent opportunity to strike back.
The Strengths Of The Two Fighters
Monkey D. Garp is widely believed tobe the strongest Marine in history. Even though he does possess a Devil Fruit, Garp became the most well-known Marine in the world. Garp can use all three types of Haki, and that too at a high level. He can use Advanced Conqueror’s Haki and infuse it with his attacks, increasing the damage output significantly. In his prime, Garp’s Haki was likely much stronger as he was constantly facing characters like Gol D. Roger, Whitebeard, Shiki, Big Mom, etc.

Garp also possesses superhuman strength. He is able to destroy mountains with punches. He can even throw massive cannonballs with his hands, and he does a much better job than an ordinary cannon. Garp’s endurance and stamina are also higher than most One Piece characters.
Kuzan Has An Overpowered Devil Fruit
Kuzan is Garp’s former apprentice. So, it’s hardly shocking that he is so strong. Unlike his mentor, Kuzan can only use two types of Haki. He has immense proficiency in Armament Haki, which was one of the main reasons why Kuzan was able to fight Sakazuki for several days. In addition to Haki, Kuzan also possesses a Devil Fruit. His Hie Hie no Mi allows him to freeze anything nearly instantly. Once the opponent is frozen, Kuzan can take his time finishing them off. Considering he is an experienced fighter, it is safe to assume that Kuzan has likely awakened his Devil Fruit.
Who Will Emerge Triumphant In The Battle?
As it stands, Kuzan is the likelier to win the fight and secure bragging rights. While he has suffered a fair share of injuries, they are not anywhere near Garp’s. Additionally, Kuzan has the support of several otherpowerful fighters like Avalo Pizarro, Sanjuan Wolf, Vasco Shot, and Shiryu. All of them are veterans with a ton of experience, so they know how to take an opponent of Garp’s caliber.
If Garp was healthy, even then fighting all of the Titanic Captains would have been a herculean task. Garp’s biggest mistake was that he brought very young and inexperienced fighters along. Prince Grus, Kujaku, Tashigi, and Hibari have the potential to become stronger, but they can’t do much against the Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates.
In the next episode, fans will get a clearer picture of what exactly will go down in Hachinosu and if the Marines will escape with their lives. However, everything points towards a big victory for the Blackbeard Pirates. In fact, the Navy ship outside Hachinosu is in grave danger as Avalo Pizarro is ready to crush it with his gigantic arm. At this point, it seems that Garp and the others will be trapped on the island.
