Ambrosia is one of the most sought-after meals inThe Sims 4, and its effects go much further than a full stomach. Named after the nectar of the gods in Ancient Greek mythology, ambrosia lives up to its moniker as it’s incredibly hard to create inThe Sims 4, but many make the attempt because it’s well-worth the cost. After all, it has the incredible effect of resetting a Sim’s life span and even resurrecting the dead.
Ambrosia has been an iconic meal sinceThe Sims 3, and has become even more important inThe Sims 4due to the increased difficulty in acquiring it. The Potion of Youth has largely replaced the need for ambrosia when resetting a Sim’s life span, but so far there is nothing else that can bring a ghost Sim back to life. This maychange withThe Sims 4: Life and Death, but it’s also possible that ambrosia may come to play a bigger role in the future.
How Ambrosia is Acquired in The Sims 4
Ambrosia needs to be created, rather than bought, with various skills involved. Luckily, these components can be collected by several Sims, which can streamline the process. All the ingredients for ambrosia have life and death involved in some way. Ambrosia has four potential effects:
Because it has such powerful effects, the process of acquiring ambrosia can take a long time.Ambrosia and the ingredients to create itcannot be bought inThe Sims 4, and it can only be made by a Sim with maximum skills in both the Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skills. The ingredients for ambrosia include:
Growing a Death Flower in The Sims 4requires a Gardening skill of 10, and grafting a Pomegranate and an Orchid plant. Growing these plants takes a long time, and once they’re grown, the Death Flower needs to be grown once the plant has been grafted. Angelfish require a level 3 Fishing skill to catch. The final ingredient, a Potion of Youth, is only available from the Rewards Store for 1,500 points.
Ambrosia May Have a New Role to Play in The Sims 4: Life and Death
Once all the ingredients for ambrosia are obtained, the meal needs to be prepared by a Sim who hasmaximized their Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skills. Eating the meal will restore the youth of the Sim who eats it, but ambrosia is more famous as a way to bring ghost Sims back to life. Because earning the skills and ingredients required for ambrosia takes such a long time, Sims may be near the end of their lives when they are finally able to create the dish.
WithThe Sims 4: Life and Deathon the way, ambrosia may have a different part to play, as ghosts will likely have a larger role inThe Sims 4. Bucket Lists, Unfinished Business, and Rebirth will be introduced, and it’s uncertain how ambrosia will fit in with these new gameplay mechanics. The Reaper Reward’s Challenge is centered on creating ambrosia, and so it’s likely that it will play some kind of role in the future. As ambrosia has been an icon ofThe SimssinceThe Sims 3, it’s unlikely it’ll be removed from the series.
