Ofall the Codex entry queststhat players can tackle inThrone and Liberty, some are pretty straightforward and simple, while others can involve a lot of different steps. It can be dependent on participating in aspecific timed world eventor as simple as going to talk to a certain NPC in a town. Either way, the Codex entries can be a little tricky to figure out and finish. One of those quests that falls into this category isThe Voice Behind The Mask.
This Codex entrycan be unlocked once a player hasvisited the Sandworm Lair areaof the map, just northeast of Vienta Village, andpart of the vast desert region. This area is recommended for anyone who is at least Level 35, though this quest can be unlocked before reaching that level. However, players should try to be at the recommended level for the quest, as one of the steps can be tough if they are weaker. Once you are ready to tackle this multi-step mission, this guide will walk you through each step.
How To Complete The Voice Behind The Mask
The quest is in the Sandworm Lair area of the map andcomes with the following objectives:

Talk To The Mysterious Mask
The first step can be found justnorth of the Sandworm Lair Waypoint. If the Codex entry is active, there will be an icon on the mini-map that players can follow.
The mask is sittingon top of a rock bridgeof sorts that overlooks the entire area. As players approach it, they will get a prompt to speak to complete this objective.
Follow The Guiding Light
Speaking with the mask will trigger an orb of light to appear behind the player, andinteracting with the orb will cause a line of light to emit out of it. This is what the player needs to follow for this part of the quest.
The line will point the playerto another orb of light, which they will need to interact with again to point them toward another one. After a handful of orbs, they will eventually come across the Unknown Rift in the canyon.
Playersmust interact with this Unknown Riftto move forward.
Get To The Other Cliff
This is where things can get a little tricky. This first step involves crossing a chasm to the other side byjumping on some platforms. The only problem is that once the player jumps on them, fake platforms will appear along the path, and if the player has not memorized the path and jumps on the wrong one, they will fall and have to start over.
To help players, they cancheck out the image aboveto see what the pattern will be so they won’t have to memorize it. Once they have crossed the platforms, the game will take the player to the next step.
Survive The Sandstorm
This is another tricky objective, as it involves being stuck in a circular area while sand tornadoes are sent at you. The goal is tosurvive for 30 secondsand not get hit by any of the twisters. That’s easier said than done, however, as the amount of tornadoes increases as time goes on.
A way to help is topull the camera as far out from the character as possible. This will give you a much higher perspective on the area, and then you’ll easily see the tornadoes coming from behind. This allows for better reaction time and makes it easier to dodge.
Once 30 seconds have passed,the next step will begin.
Defeat The Crystal Scorpion
This is, by far, the hardest and most time-consuming part of the whole quest, as it pits players against a Crystal Scorpion enemy that sits at Level 37. This is why it was recommended to be at level 35 before beginning the quest,as this fight is no joke.
The scorpionhas over 26,000 healththat needs to be whittled down, all while dealing with the exploding scarabs that spawn nearby. Even worse, the scorpion will frequently use a shield power that makes any attacks do zero damage against it, no matterhow strong the character is.
The key to dealing with this is to destroy one of the scarabs and cause it to explode next to the scorpion. This will cause its shield to lower and open up an opportunity for the player to move in and unleash some damage. When this happens, players should use their best Skills totake outas much of the scorpion’s health as possibleand then move away quickly.
The reason for moving away is that the scorpion has a sand tornado attack that will deal massive AoE damage if the player gets caught in it. This tornado can drain a health bar in a matter of seconds, so if the player can avoid it as much as possible,then they won’t have to worry about their health as much during this fight.
As long as players can justkeep moving, avoid that sand tornado attack, and wait for the right opportunities to strike, the enemy will fall eventually. It just requires patience and timing.
Find Out Who The Masked Person Is
Once the scorpion has fallen,two pedestals will appearin front of the player. The first thing players will need to do is read the journal on the left pedestal. Once they have done that, they can then speak with the Dantalux Guardian, and once the conversation ends, accept its pledge.
This will give the playera new Guardianthey can use and bring the quest to a close.
