Throne and Libertydoesn’t have a traditional crafting system, but it does have a fully functionalCooking system, which works as a secondary skill that players can level up, alongsideFishing and Amitoi Expeditions. So, many players might be wondering: How do we level up cooking?
That’s precisely where this guide leads, explaining all the things players need to know to reach the highest cooking level as fast as possible. Here players will find tips, the best recipes to craft first, important items they should be looking for, and most importantly: Where to get ingredients for their dishes.
Get Salt (And Lots Of It)
To level upCookingefficiently, players will need to craft countless dishes per day, and sometimes, will be subject to the availability of certain items with limited buys per day (like Honey, for example). But Salt is one of the main ingredients for cooking in the game and without it, all recipes are eternally locked. So first thing first: where to get Salt?
There are several places where monsters dropSalt, and not all are bound to the shores of Solisium. But the best place to farm by far, isWindhill Shores, located on the southernmost part of the map, right belowGolden Rye PasturesandKastleton. In this place, players should kill as many Lobsters, and Crab monsters as they can find, and they will drop in between 2 to 3 Salt units per monster group. Of course, this is also subjected to RNG, so there might be some really good drops, or players might be unlucky and get none. But keep killing crawly monsters and the backpack will be full of this precious resource in no time.
Once players have at least 20 or 30 units of Salt, it’s time for the next two steps. And they both require more farming.
Get More Herbs, Vegetables, And Fruits
Salt is important, butHerbs, Vegetables, Mushrooms, andFruitsare other crucial ingredients that players will need to have in mind every time they are cooking.Gathering inThrone and Libertywill require players to look in their maps forHerbs,Fruit Star Trees, andMushrooms. The best way to get hundreds of these ingredients in one quick run is to roam the areas betweenUrstella Fields,Carmine Forest, and theNesting Grounds.
Herbs might include different types of spices, likeSaffron, andBasil, then there are other ingredients that are most common, like Quarba andHerbawhich can be gathered after it rains. And that’s another of the charms of the game, the climate determines which ingredients players might find, so keep a close eye on the weather forecast.
When cutting downStar Fruit Trees, players might find the valuableFruice, which can also drop when hunting bugs like spiders and other ugly things (don’t ask me why). This is an ingredient that we will save for later and it will really come in handy. And also Trannaple, is another valuable cooking ingredient.
While cutting down Star Fruit Trees in Carmine Forest, players can also killSpidersto get moreFruice, and forage for Mushrooms to get Aroma and various types ofEdible Mushroomsthat will be used inlevel 2 to level 4 recipes. So keep this in mind. Also: Spiders dropInsect Legs, and that is also a cooking ingredient.
Once players have a good supply of these materials, it’s time for the meat. So, let’s gohuntingandfishing. Whatever walks, swims, or flies, into the pot it goes
Fishing And Hunting For Meat
Two activities that players will be repeating often while getting enough ingredients to make enough food to make that Cooking level rise are Hunting and Fishing. Meat comes, of course, from every earthly creature (or those flying above) that has the bad luck to cross the player’s path when they’re out shopping for groceries.Wolvesare a staple source of easy meat, and there are hundreds of thousands of them in theBlackhowl Plains.
The good thing about this place is that it’s also a good spot for gatheringHerbsandVegetables, so killing packs of wolves, then foraging, and killing some more until players have plenty of ingredients will be the best way to proceed.
TheNesting Groundsare another important spot in our cooking journey since they’ll be providing Terror Bird Meat andTerror Bird Egg, two important ingredients for going from level 5 to 7 in cooking. Meanwhile, inUrstella Fieldsplayers should be farming forGarlicby killing Goblins, since they’ll need it for level 8 to 11 recipes.
The other thingplayers should be doing is leveling up Fishing. This mini-game will allow them to get a steady source ofMackerels,Bass,Anchovies, and other low-level sea creatures that can come in handy for cooking. There’s one more step ahead before getting our hands on the dough and turning on the oven: Time to shop for groceries (this time for real).
Visit The Sundries Vendor Daily
The Sundries Vendor is an inexhaustible source of certain products likeVegetable Oil,Milk,Onion,Clam,Corn, andTomato.but other products like Honey, Eggs, and Golden Rye are exhaustible and have a daily quota. Honey is the most valuable one since it will allow players to craft the item they need to boost their cooking leveling.
For the moment, purchasing 5 honey (daily limit) will be enough, then grabbing 5 Trannaple, and 5 Lemongrass, will allow them to craftPickled Fruit Candy, in the Miscellaneous Tab from the Cooking menu. This particular food boosts theCooking Mastery Bonus(experience earned)by 15%. Once players have this bonus effect active and all ingredients prepared: It’s time to cook.
How To Level Up Cooking Fast
With the Pickled Fruit Candy bonus activated, players should start by cookingVegetable Stir-Fry, and thenMushroom Stir-Fryonce they reach Cooking Lvl. 2. From there, its meat and fish dishes, mainly:Meat and Onion Soup, then when hitting level 3, they should follow up withLaslan-Style Fish Stew.
Reaching level 4 will mean they’ve unlocked the more complex recipes that require lots of ingredients. If they have followed this guide, they’ll have enough ingredients to go beyond level 5 and reach middle level 6 before needing to wait a whole new day to craft more exhaustible material recipes.
But there’s a particular food recipe that yields a lot of cooking experience, doesn’t require too many special ingredients, and also boosts experience earned (normal experience, not cooking) by 50$, so it’s always worth having some of them: theKastler Salad. This dish requires the following items:1 Salt, 1 Oil, and 1 Herba(or similar ingredients, like Lemongrass or Quarba) and yields11 Cooking Exp.
Players can only have one active Cooking Buff at the same time, so eating another food set will replace the former effect with a new one. Keep this in mind and chose carefully which buff to use for every occasion.
Following up, players should be able to cookTerror Bird Stew(68 Exp Each), which requiresTerror Bird Meat,Shiitake Mushroom, and Salt. These ingredients will be more hard to get but will propel the player’s cooking level to 6 and 7 in a breeze. More so if they still have the Pickled Fruit Candy buff still active.
If they do things correctly, the next step will be cooking Fish Steak (1 Fish, 3 Herbs, 5 Garlic)at level 8, and this will set them on the right path towards reaching cooking level 11. Players should be able to accomplish this with one afternoon of steady farming. Take a breather if needed, because the next day will be time to farm even more since to go from level 11 to 13, players will need more Honey to craft Forest Goulash (1 Honey, 1 Basil, 1 Forest Wolf Meat, 4 Terror Bird Eggs).
From there on, recipes get more and more complex, and will also require some special materials like Marind Ore, which can befarmed by Riding The Gigantrite, which appears several times a day as a world event. The best recipes can boost not only the power of the player but also increasePvP attack and evasion, which are tremendously useful for Guilds. So having a leveled cook among the ranks is always appreciated.
