Summary
Divergent Universe is the counterpart to the Simulated Universe mode inHonkai: Star Rail, and its difficulty is reminiscent of the add-ons to Simulated Universe (Swarm Disasterand Gold and Gears).
Similar to those modes, Divergent Universe also has added difficulty settings (going up an extra 8 levels). As minor rewards are only given out to players for completing difficulties 1 through 6 (difficulties 7 & 8 having no rewards aside from a title that can be displayed on the player profile), these challenges are entirely optional. Bragging rights might be something some players are interested in though.
5Plan Around Equations
Do Or Die
Equations are the newly introduced mechanic with the release of Divergent Universe. The buffs they provide range from minor ones to game-changing buffs that can dictate how players approach this mode.
The trade-off is that players will need a certain number of blessings from two different paths in order to activate these equations. More often than not, Equations take priority over blessings. Sometimes it might be a better idea to pick up certain blessings that don’t benefit the team but instead get players one step closer to activating an equation. It’s generally game over if players don’t have at least 1 activated3-star Equationby the final boss.
4Remembrance Cheese
Permafreeze
The remembrance blessings have been used by many players to clear the highest difficulties in both Swarm Disaster andGold and Gears, and it’s no different here. Better known in the community as the “Remembrance Cheese”, the idea of it is to almost permanently freeze the enemy and delay their turns while giving the team more chances to deal damage and/or reapply shields or heal up the team.
Running a team that cannaturally freeze enemies(March 7th, Misha, Gepard) will offer the best results. However, any character can freeze enemies quite reliably with the right blessings and Equations. The damage from running a team like this almost entirely depends on the Dissociation debuff that can be obtained through certain Remembrance blessings. This debuff can deal massive damage to frozen enemies and the damage can be further enhanced with blessings.
3Double Sustain
Better Safe Than Sorry
Contrary to almost every other mode in the game, running a team with 2 sustain units isn’t a bad idea here. Typically, running 2 sustain units would mean less overall damage due to there not being enough damage being dealt or less buffs on the dedicated DPS unit. Considering how powerful blessings and Equations are, this is not at all a worry in this mode.
The biggest worry is the chance of getting one-shot at any time. While this isn’t as big of a problem if players are running shielders, it would often leave characters at low HP with no way ofhealing them back up. Running a shielder and a healer in this case offers more comfort in exchange for some damage. With the right blessings and Equations, players won’t need 2 sustains. However, it might be the solution in the case that players don’t get super lucky.
2Rubert Empire Difference Machine
It Makes All The Difference
Curios as a whole also play a big part incompleting this mode, namely 3-star Curios and Weighted Curios which can offer great buffs under the right conditions. 2-star and 1-star Curios offer smaller-scale buffs/advantages that can be great when players obtain more than a few of them. However, there is one Curio that is absolutely broken and pretty much guarantees the success of a run if players are able to obtain it.
The Curio in question is named Rubert Empire Difference Machine and it offers cosmic fragments, blessings, and Curios every time players enter a new domain, on top of an increase in Crit Rate and Crit DMG for every ally. The only catch is that it’s difficult to get and players will either have to get lucky or be prepared to reset a bunch of times. Players will automatically get this curio once they possess the other 3 Curios in the Rubert series. Considering they’re all 1-star Curios, it can be difficult to reliably get them as there are 38 in total. All of them also offer big advantages but equally big disadvantages. Definitely a high-risk risk high-reward strategy.
1Be Smart With Taking Fights
It’s Not Cowardice, It’s Strategy
While defeating enemies grants players at least more blessings, it’s generally not the best idea to take every fight especially if players feel that the team is lacking in either damage or survivability.
There are other ways togain blessings, Curios, and Equations. By choosing to go into Occurrence, Reward, Adventure, Store, and Wealth Domains, players can test their luck and see if any of these end up giving players what they’re looking for. Of course, sometimes it might be in exchange for Cosmic Fragments which is fine, but if it’s in exchange for winning a difficult battle, players will need to gauge how ready their team is before proceeding as this can easily result in the entire team dying. Not to mention, normal combat Domains only offer blessings, whereas the other domains can offer Curios and Equations as well.
