After weeks of rumors and even some misplaced excitement over a previous Tom Holland announcement, theSpider-Manactor finally delivered the news his fans wanted to hear. Not only is Spider-Man 4 real and coming, but there is now a confirmed date on just when shooting for the film will begin. Coincidently, there’s also an idea of when Peter Parker will be swinging through theaters next as well.
Tom Holland is well known for droppingSpider-Manspoilers or even accidentally letting out information he wasn’t supposed to let out of the bag. This time around it appears he was given the green light to shed light on the production ofSpider-Man 4. Last week, Holland saidhe’dread a draftof the next Spidey film and saw some things that had himself and long-time girlfriend Zendaya bouncing off the walls in excitement.
Spider-Man 4 Has An Official Filming Date
Appearing on the Jimmy Fallon Show, Holland spilled several cans of beans. The first was that he was officially returning as Spider-Man in a fourth standalone film. While the assumption had been that he was coming back, the actor had been clear that he felt like he had more power in recent years, and some took that to mean he might not return to the character. He also told Fallon that filming forSpider-Man 4willbegin in the summer of 2025. He also made it clear that the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is swinging through theaters roughly a year later.
One of the most interesting tidbits about a July 2026 release date means that Spider-Man 4 is hitting theaters just a just two months after the Russo Brothers’Avengers: Doomsdayis planned to drop. Sony and Disney have made the feature one of their top priorities for the near future of the MCU. Sony of course has a vested interest inSpider-Man 4succeeding considering that it looks like its most recent movieVenom: The Last Danceis showing signs ofseriously struggling at the box office.
Of course, Sony is hoping thatKraven the Huntercan somehow break their losing streak in theaters after unmitigated disasters inMadame WebandMorbius. There is also the outside shot, as fans often hope for in the Sonyverse movies that there wlll be hint of an actual cross over into the MCU. There was hope of that forVenom 3, but it appears the ending from that movie slammed the door on those chances.
Of course, anything is still possible forSpider-Man 4considering that any details about what the plot might be are still heavily under wraps. For now, the most concrete detail other than Tom Holland is returning is thatShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten RingsdirectorDestin Daniel Cretton will helmthe upcoming film. It’s also expected that Zendaya will return as MJ and that the story will pick up with the spider-friends heading off to college at MIT. Fans of the franchise will find out for sure whenSpider-Man 4officially releases on June 23, 2025.
