Summary
Twitchhas officially added new categories to its streaming catalog for fans of Lego building and figurine painting. WhileTwitchalready has dozens of content categories for users to choose from, these two new ones are ideal for fans of specific hobbies.
As an ever-growing platform, Twitch often updates its policies, tools, and more in an attempt to help both streamers and viewers have the best experience possible. For example,Twitch recently added a useful editing toolfor streamers to share short clips faster. The platform also tries to keep up with trends among audiences and occasionally updates its category directory. Earlier this year, Twitch launched a DJ category separate from the existing Music one, which allowed DJs to show off their work live with more tailored copyright policies. Now, Twitch has added two new categories that cater to very specific audiences.
As reported by Twitter user Zach Bussey, Twitch has launched two categories called “Lego & Brick Building” and “Miniatures & Models” to its browsing catalog. As its name suggests, the first one is for creators whose content centers around building creations with Lego and other similar bricks. In contrast, the Miniatures category revolves around creators painting, gluing, and even sculpting small figurines. AlthoughTwitch’s top streamersusually share gaming or IRL livestreams, a lot of users prefer this kind of content for entertainment. New as they might be, both categories already have hundreds of followers and many active streamers.
Twitch Adds Lego Building and Miniature Painting Categories
While these categories are new on Twitch, the content they include isn’t. The platform has had big Lego streamers for a while now, such as BrickinNick, whose channel has almost twenty thousand followers. Adding these niche categories to the platform will hopefully let streamers reach their desired audiences and build their communities faster. It could also help viewers filter down their preferred content faster. Of course, not all of Twitch’s updates are this encouraging. In September,Twitch removed the popular BibleThump emotefrom its platform, particularly disappointing long-time viewers.
Twitch is arguably one of the most prominent streaming platforms in the market. The Amazon-owned site has catapulted several streamers to fame like IShowSpeed, Kai Cenat, and Ironmouse. Its main competitor, Kick, has managed to sign with many of Twitch’s former top creators and a constant battle between the two platforms is in place. Recently, Twitch addressed howKick streamers crashed Twitchconand announced taking measures to prevent this from happening again. With streaming platforms periodically improving their moderation policies, users can have a better experience both online and in real life.
