Summary
The 2024Until Dawnremake is missing the popular song “O Death.” When Sony announced plans to release anUntil Dawnremake, many fans were scratching their heads. After all, the originalUntil Dawnstill looks great and is readily available to play on PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility.
To its credit, theUntil Dawnremake has significantly improved the already-impressive graphics. Not only that, but theUntil Dawnremake is available on PC, whereas the original is PlayStation-only. Combine that with the fact that there is some new content in theUntil Dawnremake, and some hardcore fans may very well find the new game to be worth the price of admission.
Unfortunately, theUntil Dawnremakehas been no stranger to controversy since its October 4 launch. One issue that fans have with the game is that the iconic song “O Death” is missing from the opening credits and title sequence, replaced with a song called “Out of the Shadows” performed by Mae Stephens. The new song doesn’t sound bad by any means, but the use of O Death in the originalUntil Dawnis so iconic that swapping it out for something else was bound to ruffle feathers. And that’s exactly what has happened, as fans have taken to social media to complain about the lack of O Death in theUntil Dawnremake.
Until Dawn 2024 is Missing the “O Death” Song
No O Death is far from the only complaint thatUntil Dawnfans have about the remake’s soundtrack. Based on the comments online, many fans feel as though theUntil Dawnremake’s soundtrack is inferior across the board, and that the changes hurt the impact of certain scenes. WhileUntil Dawnupdates may address some of the other issues with the game, it’s highly unlikely that there will be any sweeping changes to the soundtrack based on fan feedback.

Besides gripes with the soundtrack, fans have criticized theUntil Dawnremake for various other reasons as well. Some think it’s a buggier experience than the original game, while others are not a fan of the switch to an over-the-shoulder camera angle from the fixed-camera angles used in the original. Those on PC have also expressed their disdain for the choice to haveUntil Dawnrequire a PSN account. All this controversy has culminated inUntil Dawndebuting to “Mixed” reviews on Steam.
O Death was later used in other games made by originalUntil Dawndeveloper Supermassive Games, like its Dark Pictures series, and so it’s possible that licensing issues prevented it from being featured in the remake, but that’s just speculation at this time.
Even if they’re disappointed with the remake, the good news is that there seems to be anUntil Dawnsequel happening. Not only that, but theUntil Dawnfilm adaptation recently wrapped filming, so franchise fans should have a lot to look forward to in the years ahead.
