Throne and Libertyhas emerged onto the scene, finally, and is bringing its twist on many of the classic MMORPG mechanics and traditions. One of these changes is how it approaches the class sytem; whereas other games would have players choose a class when creating their character to determine whatkinds of weapons and gear they could use, this game differentiates character abilities through the useof weapon combinations. As each player can carry two weapons at once, they can select which two they want to use to give them the abilities they preferas they progress through the game.
One player may choose to bring the Greatsword and Daggers with them to be able toaccess all that melee combat has to offerthrough differing speeds and damage outputs. But there are numerous ways that a player can change it up withtheir weapon combos, and there are some truly unique ways to play around with it. Here are some of the more unusual combinations that a player can take with their class.
Daggers + Wand and Tome
All Speed, Not A Ton Of Damage
Using the Daggers with the Wand and Tome offers the quickest style of fighting in the game. Both weapons are about getting their attacks or spells off as fast as possible, even though each attack doesn’t do as much damage. The point is to be able to rattle off enough attacks in quick succession that the damage per attack isnegated by how many attacks are performed and hit.
In most cases, a player would choose one of these options andcomplement it with a slower, more powerful weapon, but this combo can still work. Its focus is all about speed and maneuvering around the battlefield. Being able to keep a character moving as much as possible is a great way to support other players during world events and dungeons. While it still has damage capabilities, it could prove to be a strong support role.
Bow + Crossbow
Pick Enemies Off From A Distance
Not many players are going to go the route ofchoosing the two long-range options in the game. Both the Bow and the Crossbow are viewed more of complementary pieces to go alongside a melee weapon, but using this combo would make a character completely range-driven. They can stay on the outskirts of a battle and pepper the enemies with arrows until they fall, and would have enough time to get to a new location before an enemy catches wind of them and tries to get to their spot.
However, they would be sacrificing some damage and strength, relegating them to more of a support role. Using this combo pretty much makes it necessary to have another player or two with them to be able to do most of the damage to targets. Using this class when playing solo is possible, but it would be much more of a headache than with some teammates.
Crossbow + Wand and Tome
The Quickest One Possible
Another quick class, using the Crossbow with the Wand and Tome would make the character a quick one in a fight. They’d be able to get a few shots off with their Crossbow or shoot off some spells with the Wandbefore running to a new spot, so the enemy doesn’t catch them. It wouldn’t be a very strong class, but it could do enough to make the character a threat to some degree.
The issue is that, like the other classes on this list, it would needsome support to really be effective. If a player is using this combi when playing solo, the enemies are going to only be going for them. The player would need someone else to help take the heat off of them so that they can do what this combo does best. It’s a purely supportive role that can work, it just needs the right team around and alongside it.
Greatsword + Staff
Become A Glass Cannon
Sometimes a player just wants to be the most powerful thing on the battlefield, wielding everything in their power to dominate their opponents. This is possible through the use of this combination, though it doesn’t come without its own shortcomings as well. Using the two weapons that can often provide the most damage output in the game certainly makes a character’s attacks more potent, butat the cost of not a ton of speed or defense. It would very much just favorthe offensive stats.
Sure, the defense could be negatedsomewhat throughusing the right gear, but the character won’t be very fast. This means getting away from enemies is tough and that can lead to some frustrating deaths. The aim would be to use the damage output of the build to wipe an enemy out before they could even hit the character.
Dagger + Sword And Shield
Not A Very Robust Combo
The Daggers combined with the Sword and Shield is a weird combo because both weapons are solid. They offer great attacks to take an enemy down and the shield also comes with good defense. Using the two in tandem certainlywould not be setting a player up for failureduring a fight.
However, they alsodon’t differ a ton from one another, which makes using them together a one-note experience. Attacks would largely be the same, and while players could be successful with using them, they wouldn’t have a very robust time in doing so. Combining one of these with a magic-centered weapon is more the status quo, but that doesn’t mean this combo can’t find its place in the game.
