Summary

Venom: The Last Danceis considered Tom Hardy’s final outing as Eddie Brock. However, a reputable scooper suggested the Spider-Man Universe movie’s ending will be more akin toAvengers: Infinity Warthan a definitive conclusion.

Venom: The Last Danceis being promoted as the conclusion of a trilogy that started with the first film and continued withLet There Be Carnage. Hardy even confirmedVenom 3was his final outing as Eddie Brockin an Instagram post, thanking Sony Pictures for the experience and bidding farewell to his time playing the Spider-Man character. However, rumors suggest theVenom 3ending will leave audiences with more questions.

On Twitter, one user asked The Cosmic Circus’Alex Perezif the Venom 3ending would make it clear that the story would continue inTom Holland’sSpider-Man 4. While Perez did not directly confirm thatVenom 3would lead intoSpider-Man 4, he did insinuate that the film will conclude with a cliffhanger that must be resolved in another project, comparingVenom 3’s ending toAvengers: Infinity War. “…Imagine Infinity War ended like this in theaters in 2018. And then Feige came out and said, ‘Alright folks! That’s a wrap on Marvel Studios! This is our final movie!’ Take that as you will,” wrote Perez.

As most fans know,Avengers: Infinity Warconcluded with Thanos acquiringall six Infinity Stonesand using them to erase half of the universe’s population from existence. In the film’s closing moments, the Avengers who survived the decimation sat in horror at their defeat. Meanwhile, Thanos sat alone on a distant planet, watching the sunset and reflecting on his life-long mission’s completion. Perez did not suggestVenom 3will conclude with a similar game-changing event for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. However, his post suggests that at least oneVenom 3storyline wouldn’t be complete without a follow-up.

Of course, aVenom 3cliffhanger does not necessarily mean Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock in another project. The Last Dancedirector Kelly Marcel hinted that theVenomfranchise could continue with Krull, a character who will appear in the third film but reportedly has a minor role that could be expanded on in separate projects. Sony’s Spider-Man Universe only has a handful of projects under its belt, soVenom 3could pave the way for additional characters to get spinoffs.

On the other hand, even ifVenom 3is technically his final outing as Eddie Brock, Hardy could reprise the role for another character’s movie. Recently, Hardy reiterated thatVenom 3is his final film in the role, but he still expressed eagerness to see aVenom and Spider-Man crossover. So, unless Spider-Man appears inVenom 3, Hardy has seemingly left the open to play the symbiote again if it means going head-to-head with the web-slinger. Whether theVenom 3paves the way for this long-awaited crossover will be revealed soon.

Venom: The Last Dancewill be released in theaters on July 10, 2025.
