The primary method of combat inZelda: Echoes of Wisdomis to use Monster Echoes. In the first dungeon, you’ll unlock Swordfighter Mode, which mimics Link’s fighting style. Unfortunately, Swordfighter Mode has its drawbacks thanks to the Energy Bar and the need for well over 100 Might Crystals to fully upgrade it. When you reach the halfway point inEchoes of Wisdom, you’ll have the chance to unlock Automatons. These are robotic monsters that can be used to fight Zelda’s enemies. Unlike Echoes, Automatons need to be crafted before Zelda can start using them. If you want a close-range fighter Automaton, you should complete the “Chop ‘em in two!” side quest.

To complete “Chop ‘em in two!” you’ll need to show Dampe an Echo of aSword Moblinand give him theHeirloom Katana. At this point in your playthrough, you should at least have a Sword Moblin Echo. The Sword Moblin’s level won’t matter, so don’t worry about hunting down the Sword Moblin Lv. 3 just for the side quest. You can get the Heirloom Katana by completing6 challengesatthe Slumber Dojo in Kakariko Village.

You don’t need to get the Fast Clear results, nor does getting Fast Clear speed up the process of obtaining the katana.

With the Heirloom Katana in the inventory, speak to Dampe, and selectI want an automaton. Then, chooseChop ‘em in two!to turn in the last piece of the quest.

How to Use Roboblin

Is Roboblin Better Than Sword Moblin?

Roboblin is used like any other Automaton. You summon him by pressing down on theright arrowof thedirectional pad. To use Roboblin, hold down Y-button to wind the turnkeyand activate him. Roboblin attacks with a wide slash that instantly kills most enemies (bosses excluded), even the Sword Moblin Lv. 3. The drawback to Roboblin is it takes a while for him to charge his attack, meaning he’s less likely to fare well against fast enemies. In short, if you want an Automaton that can clear enemies in one hit, then use Roboblin. If you’re facing off against bosses or swift enemies, then you’re better off using a Sword Moblin Echo.

If Roboblin takes too much damage, he’ll break. When this happens, you need to bring him back to Dampe to have him repaired. You can pay in Monster Stones or Rupees.
