Summary

Diablo 4’s Vessel of Hatred expansion has now been out for more than a couple of weeks, which means some of its most dedicated players have likely made it through the DLC’s story and gotten a chance to spend some quality time with the new Spiritborn class. However,Diablo 4is still trucking along as it gears up for itsin-game Halloween eventthat’s just around the corner.

Diablo 4’s “macabre celebration” Halloween event begins on October 29 at 10 a.m. PT and lasts until November 5 at 10 a.m. PT. During the event, players will have an opportunity to grab some complimentary limited-time shop items and take advantage of the Butcher’s “Meat or Treat” Dungeon Shrine modifier, so it may be worth logging in during the time frame.

Diablo 4’s Halloween Event Offers Complimentary Shop Items

Players can take advantage of perhaps the most noteworthy aspect ofDiablo 4’s Halloween event by simply logging in while the event is live. Beginning on October 29,Diablo 4’s in-game shopwill see a new cosmetic item added each day until November 1, even though the event lasts until November 5. The complimentary items available duringDiablo 4’s Halloween event are as follows:

On October 29, the Recluse’s Host Mount will be made available for players to claim in the shop. The mount is essentially a zombie horse with decaying flesh and hollowed-out eye sockets, so it’s perfect for players looking to ride aroundDiablo 4’s Sanctuaryin style for Halloween. The next day, players will be able to claim the Ichorflame Torch Mount Trophy, which features a large recluse spider gripping the trophy on its flame side. October 30 will see the Recluse’s Flash Mount Trophy added to the shop; a large recluse spider with green innards. Finally, on November 1, players can grab the Reclusive Trappings Mount Armor to cover their zombie horse in webs and make it look even more terrifying.

Players won’t necessarily need tolog intoDiablo 4each day to claim the free goodies, as each date merely marks the day the items will be put up for grabs in the shop. Once an item has been made available in the shop, players will have until 12 p.m. PT on November 5 to claim it. In light of that, as long as players log in toDiablo 4sometime between November 1 and November 5, they can claim every complimentary cosmetic item that has been made available for the event.

Diablo 4’s Halloween Event Features the Butcher’s ‘Meat or Treat’ Dungeon Shrine Modifier

Alongside the various cosmetic itemsDiablo 4’s Halloween event is adding to the shop is the Butcher’s “Meat or Treat” event, which is, for all intents and purposes,a game of Russian Roulette. “Meat or Treat” affects any Dungeon Shrines inDiablo 4, seeing them grant an additional “surprise” effect once they’re activated. Unfortunately, while the surprise effect can be positive and, as Blizzard puts it, can “bestow unexpected riches upon you,” it can also negatively impact a Dungeon run inDiablo 4. As such, players will want to weigh their options before carelessly activating a Dungeon Shrine inDiablo 4from October 29 to November 5.

While there may not be much substantial happening inDiablo 4in the way of activities during its Halloween event, players will at least be able to grab several new cosmetic items for free from the shop while the event is live. Additionally, Blizzard has been cryptic about what advantages and disadvantages players may encounter when activating a Dungeon Shrine duringthe Butcher’s gameof “Meat or Treat,” which means they may be more than worth activating once the event begins.
