World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classicis about to unleash a long-awaited update, Rage of the Firelands. It will be a true replica of the sameWoWthat existed in June of 2011, where players can breach the molten realm of Ragnaros himself and put an end to his schemes once and for all.
On October 29 of this year, Cataclysm Classic players can begin an epic quest to save Thrall, the former Warchief of the Horde. But traveling between Azeroth and the planes beyond to rescue the World Shaman is the easy part. When November 7th arrives,World of Warcraft: Classicreally turns up the heat with the release of the expansion’s second last raid, Firelands.
Ragnaros Has Long Been WoW’s Iconic Antagonist
Second only to the likes of the Lich King, Ragnaros the Firelord is perhapsWorld of Warcraft’s most iconic bad guy. This lava-spewing Elemental Lord happens to be among a privileged handful of bosses to ever face players in two separate raids. In early Vanilla and whenWoW: Classic’s first iterationwas released, players were champing at the bit to extinguish Ragnaros in the Molten Core raid and truly prove their mettle.
As one of the four Elemental Lords, Ragnaros can only be killed permanently within his own realm of the Firelands, hence his reappearance in Cataclysm. This time, he has allied withDeathwing to end all life on Azeroth, and he’s placed his crosshairs over Nordrassil, the World Tree atop Mount Hyjal. Teaming up with mortals, dragons and Wild Gods, players have to ensure that the rampant destruction does not reach this sacred font of power.
Epic Mounts Await Within the Firelands Raid
To truly end the fight, however, players need to breach the domain of fire itself, facing all manner of elemental terrors that await. Full of titanic creatures of rock and ash and fluid monsters made from magma, the Firelands boasts seven unique bosses. Two of these bosses drop fiery mounts, including Ragnaros himself, who has a chance to give lucky players the Pureblood Firehawk, a phoenix made of literal flames.
The raid’s meta achievement will also be available at this time, consisting of multiple smaller achievements that challenge players to fulfill interesting extra criteria when fighting each boss. Called “Glory of the Firelands Raider,” it rewards a purple recolor of themount dropped by Ragnaros, known as the Corrupted Fire Hawk. For those who doubt they’ll win the former version, Glory of the Firelands Raider is their best bet to obtain a phoenix mount.
The Legendary Questline Open to All Caster Classes
What’s even more exciting than the actual raid is the legendary staff that accompanies it. The questline to obtain Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest, spurs the player to travel far and wide, aiding the Blue Dragonflight along the way. It will take the power of allfive dragon Aspects to defeat Deathwing, so a new Blue Aspect has to be chosen following the death of Malygos in Wrath of the Lich King. Conspiracies and tragedies abound in this exciting yet challenging adventure, but the reward is well worth it. Dragonwrath allows players to transform into a visage of the dragon Tarecgosa, acting as a unique flying mount in and of itself.
Surprising New Content For An Old Expansion
Even before November 7th, extra challenges await in the form of Elemental Rune Dungeons, which didn’t exist in the original Cataclysm. As another perk, players who aren’t level 85 yet have nothing to fear, as a 50% experience buff will help them jump into the Firelands in no time at all. As Rage of theFirelands comes toWorld of Warcraft: CataclysmClassic, all players can relive the epic journey once again.
