Treyarch is gearing up for the imminent launch ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, with fans finally getting their hands on the title on October 25. With four years in development and a variety of fresh mechanics and content, it is clear to see why so many players are excited to finally experience everything the upcoming project has to offer.

While there is a bit more mystery present aroundCall of Duty: Black Ops 6’s campaign and Zombies modes, players have already had a hands-on experience with the title’s core multiplayer through its past Beta weekends. These Betas allowed fans to give comprehensive feedback regardingBlack Ops 6’s multiplayer prior to launch, and Treyarch has clearly made the most of this information. Some changes have been made to the game’s multiplayer Skyline map, for example, setting an excellent standard for community involvement inBlack Ops 6that is hopefully continued forward.

Fans Already Have a Voice For Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Future Direction

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6eased excited fans into the game with two successful Beta weekendsacross August and September, giving players a great idea of what kind of experiences they can expect when the game fully launches. Of course, these Beta weekends only offered a limited snapshot of what will be the game’s launch content, with a variety of new perks, weapons, equipment, modes, and maps being confirmed for release.

Throughout the Beta forBlack Ops 6, fans only got to experience five 6v6 maps at launch: Babylon, Derelict, Rewind, Scud, and Skyline. Three smaller Strike Maps were also present in Gala, Pit, and Stakeout, with this overall selection only being a brief slice ofthe 16 maps that are set to appear inBlack Ops 6at launch. The Skyline map was one of the most memorable in the Beta, being set within a luxurious resort rooftop, fit with its own central pool, hidden panic room, and map-altering security systems.

Fans got to experience Skyline through the context of a range of objective-based modes, and it quickly became clear throughout the Beta that theDomination mode on Skyline presented a glaring problem. The placement of the B flag on Skyline is next to the hot-tub and pool in the center of the map, with a huge variety of doorways and overhanging balconies offering easy lines of sight to whoever is sitting on the flag. This made it extremely difficult and tedious to retake the flag once Skyline matches got going, and this was voiced by the community and has already led to positive action.

Black Ops 6’s Skyline Changes Should Be the Tip of the Iceberg

Treyarch recently confirmed thatmap changes will be made toBlack Ops 6’s Skylinewith this criticism in mind, with the hot-tub B flag area now having a slightly lower sublevel that offers complete cover from most angles. Not only does this swift action on Treyarch’s part highlight the benefits of holding Beta experiences within the game’s community, but it also highlights just how good of a resource the player base is in makingCoDtitles much more refined.

Treyarch has also made adjustments to the multiplayer map Scud and the Zombies map Liberty Falls, showing its determination to address community concerns.

While Activision has been reluctant to make changes tomore entrenched and divisive mechanics like skill-based matchmaking, the community is often heard when it comes to things like weapon balancing, and hopefully Treyarch extends this outlook to further map alterations throughoutBlack Ops 6’s post-launch life. The changes that have been made to Skyline are already being lauded as a positive move forBlack Ops 6, and with the amount of post-launch maps that are set to come to the title, Treyarch will hopefully continue listening to fans to ensure that these future in-game settings are as enjoyable as possible.
