In addition to enemy-infested areas that can be cleared for Arcana upgrades, every map also features events that yield various treasures inWitchfire. Some of these events play like quests where you have to solve puzzles or fetch items. The missing head is one such quest item you must return to its body. This is also one of the most frustrating events inWitchfire, going against its otherwise fast-paced gameplay design.
Adding to the challenge, especially forbeginners inWitchfire, is the absence of further instructions. So, where do you go to find the missing head, and what happens after you find it? Here is what you must know.
The missing head quest is only available on the Scarlet Coast at Gnosis level 1 (or higher) inWitchfire. It is arandom event called Explosive Packagethat will be marked on your map with a pentagram icon. The quest activates after interacting with the chopping block. You must find and return the missing head here to get your reward.
The only problem is that the missing head’s location is not marked on the map. Once you activate the Explosive Package quest, an exclamation mark will appear on your mini-map, as shown in the image above. This indicates the area where the head can be found.
The exclamation mark can be hard to see depending on your graphics settings inWitchfire. Either increase the brightness or rotate the mini-map to get a better background contrast.
Follow the exclamation markto find the quest item on the ground. The head emits a blood-red glow like volatile crystals, so it should not be hard to spot. However, do not pick up the head just yet. There is something else about the quest that you should know beforehand.
Themissing head explodes if you dash or run for too longinWitchfire. You have no choice but to walk all the way back to the chopping block (body) with the head.
Thehead also explodes if you take a certain amount of damage, which can be frustrating because enemies start spawning as soon as you pick up the head. Hence, even if you clear all the enemies between the head and the chopping block, you still have to deal with the ones spawning behind you.
The missing head starts burning before exploding. If the head starts trembling, and flames appear, drop whatever you are doing or else risk getting blown to bits.
The best way to complete the Explosive Package quest inWitchfireis to completely ignore every enemy behind you. Watch the danger arrows on your screen and run towards the opposite side for a few steps before walking. This helps avoid anyincoming spells or projectiles.
In addition, attempt to reach behind cover such as a large boulder. While the Witch always sends a few of her undead minions to hunt you down—the ones with yellow portals over their heads, most enemies stop tracking your location if their line of sight gets broken.
Once you reach the chopping block, a loud ding will accompany your rewards. These will be from a random pool and can give you a cursed relic for Gold, a second Mysterium Incantation toimprove your weapons, volatile witchfire crystals, etc.
Try to remember where the chopping block is located on the map. you may also follow the white dot on the mini-map on your way back.
