Blackrock Depths is the largest dungeon inWorld of Warcraft. The infamous instance used to take parties hours to fully clear, with nearly two dozen boss and mini-boss encounters spread throughout the sprawling labyrinth – not to mention myriad quests, scripts, and even a Blacksmithing profession hub found within. Now,World of Warcraftplayers will soon be able to tackle a brand-new version of Blackrock Depths. The massive dungeon is being remade as a raid forWorld of Warcraft’s upcoming 20th anniversary event. Fans can challenge eight bosses and five mini-bosses in this instance, which is tuned for between 10 and 15 players, and has three difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic. Ahead of its release on October 22,World of Warcrafthas finally revealed footage of some of the reimagined boss encounters found in the instance.

Though the brief video doesn’t reveal too much, several new mechanics can be seen. Bael’Gar seems to have a persistent ground slam and meteor swarm attacks, and Lord Incendius can turn part of the floor into lava. General Angerforge’s reinforcements seem to be even more formidable than before, and Ambassador Flamelash’s fiery abilities look significantly more dangerous as well. Lastly, it seems Moira will play an even larger role in battling alongside Emperor Thaurissan, who himself can now summon Ragnaros during the fight.

Players will have plenty of reasons to delve into the new Blackrock Depths raids. The instance will drop iconic rewards and items from the past, but with item levels bumped up to the same strength as theNerub-ar Palace raid inWoW: The War WithinSeason 1.

Blackrock Depths will open withWorld of WarcraftPatch 11.0.5 on October 22, but it seems like the raid will likely go away when the 20th anniversary event ends on Jun 22, 2025.
