As is the case with the majority of video game retailers, theXbox Storehas a historical tendency to host long-running Halloween sales. Back in 2023, this annual event started on October 17. This time around, it kicked off on October 18.
The 2024 edition of the so-calledShocktober Microsoft Store salecurrently comprises 43 discounts. “Currently,” because it launched with around 30 deals, then added about a dozen more over the weekend. Therefore, there’s a chance that its list of offerings will continue to grow in the days ahead. The sale itself will run until the end of the month, ending at midnight local time on November 1.

As expected, the Shocktober promotion is largely geared towardtitles suitable for Halloween gaming sessions. This includes everything from survival horror experiences likeFatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipseto more action-oriented offerings such as theResident Evil 4remake, which are currently 30% and 50% off, respectively. Yet the most significant Shocktober discount was reserved forBorderlands 3, which had its price slashed by 90% as part of the promotion, bringing it down to $5.99.
Meanwhile, the 80% discount on theDeluxe Edition ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueoffers the biggest savings out of this batch of Halloween 2024 deals, as it slashes the game’s price by a whopping $80. The second-largest offer by this metric is the half-off discount on theRed Dead Redemptionbundle, which allows Xbox gamers to save $49.99 on the first two entries in Rockstar’s hit western franchise. The firstRed Dead Redemptionis also on sale individually, but its sequel is not.
Xbox Shocktober 2024 Sale Offers Over $1,000 in Savings
The total value of savings currently offered by the Shocktober sale is $1,050.64. While theMicrosoft Store sells both PC and Xbox games, this ongoing promotion seems to be largely focused on console titles. Namely, many of the currently discounted games are console-only, with a few notable exceptions, likeState of Decay 2: Juggernaut EditionandThe Hellblade Bundle, both of which are cross-platform products. Another outlier isThe Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, which is presently discounted by 60%, but only for PC.
Xbox Series S
Released alongside the Xbox Series X, the Xbox Series S is Microsoft’s budget option for the ninth console generation. Designed exclusively for digital gaming, the Series S can run the same games as the Series X, albeit at a potentially lower resolution and frame rate.
