Announced on the game’s Twitter account,Phasmophobia’s Balanced and Performance Modes will target 4K 60 FPS on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but the latter will be the only console capable of achieving 120 FPS on compatible displays. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S should be able to maintain 60 FPS at 1080p, according to the post. As for the PS VR2 build ofPhasmophobia, the headset will have a base framerate of 60 FPS at a native resolution of 2,000 x 2,040 pixels per eye. However, that framerate can be doubled using reprojection, the VR technology that artificially generates frames oftentimes at the cost of clarity and increased player susceptibility to motion sickness.

In a post on the official PlayStation blog, developer Kinetic Games revealed that its hit indie titlePhasmophobiawill have extra features on the PS VR2. Among these is foveated rendering, a technique that allows games to have higher and more stable frame rates through the use of the PS VR2’s eye-tracking system. Those who play on Sony’s VR headset will also have access to the tool belt, a useful accessory designed to simplify item swapping during investigations.
