Summary

Yooka-Replayleehas seemingly been confirmed for theSwitch 2. The hint of it coming toNintendo’s upcoming console has been shared as part of the game’s latest trailer.

There arefive more months for Nintendo to announce the Switch 2during the reveal time frame that it had previously committed to. Some recent rumors suggested that the company was targeting October 2024 for the official unveiling, but now that the month is nearing its end, that’s looking less likely by the day. In the meantime, select developers have already started confirming games for the Switch 2.

The latest company to (kind of) do so is Playtonic Games, a British studio that just treated itsYooka-Layleeremasterto a console announcement trailer. The 100-second clip ends with the list of platforms thatYooka-Replayleewill support, which includes the logos of the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo. The fact that this group doesn’t specifically mention the Switch appears to suggest that the platformer will instead be targeting the console’s successor. Playtonic confirmed that this logo of choice wasn’t a mistake, jokingly writing thatYooka-Replayleewill be available on Nintendo’s recently launched Alarmo clock.

Nintendo Switch 2 Already Has Several Confirmed Games

So, although Nintendo’s next device is still nowhere to be seen, the number of its confirmed games continues to grow. Most recently, Pathea announced thatMy Time at Evershinewill be coming to the Switch 2, and committed to sharing more details on the matter after Nintendo officially reveals the much-anticipated console.

Prior to that,Persona-like RPGBestiariowas also confirmed for the Switch 2back in late February 2024. This was shortly following the emergence of widespread reports that Nintendo delayed its Switch successor to 2025. BothBestiarioandMy Time at Evershinewere confirmed for the unannounced device as part of their Kickstarter campaigns. Seeing how the Switch 2 is widely rumored to be backward compatible, its day-one library shouldn’t be lacking in titles even in the unlikely event that the console doesn’t manage to attract a lot of early support from third-party developers.

Rextro Bytes Back revealed for Yooka-Replaylee

As for when exactly the device will be unveiled, many fans have been trying to guess that for the better part of the year now. Nintendo has an investor call scheduled for November 5, where its executives are certain to get asked about the upcoming console. However, the likelihood of them providing any substantive answers in response to Switch 2 questions is currently unclear. The console itself isn’t expected to hit the store shelves before Q2 2025 at the earliest.
