Konami has announced thatYu-Gi-Oh: The Eternal Duelist Soul,The Sacred Cards, andReshef of Destructionwill be a part of the upcomingYu-Gi-Oh: Early Days Collection, a remastered package of classicYu-Gi-Ohtitles. TheYu-Gi-Oh: Early Days Collectionwas announced in February as part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration, which included a number of reveals like a new anime based on the card game’s lore and updates to ongoing games likeMaster Duel.
Yu-Gi-Oh: Early Days Collectiondigs deep into its back catalog, where its retro titles have very different rules compared to today. All of these games were previously released on the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance systems, with theEarly Days Collectionmaking them available in one package. TheEarly Days Collectionis set for a June 13, 2025 launch, with the game coming to Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. While five games have already been confirmed, Konami confirms three more titles that will be in the package.
The addition of these titles was announced on the officialYu-Gi-OhRetro Games Twitter account, which focuses on retro-themed products. Earlier this October, it was announced that the first three Game Boy and Game Boy ColorYu-Gi-Ohgames would be a part of the package. It’s now been confirmed thatYu-Gi-Oh: The Eternal Duelist Soul,The Sacred Cards, andReshef of Destructionhave also been added to the line-up. WhileThe Sacred Cardsis considered a nostalgic classic,The Eternal Duelist Soulis considered one of the bestYu-Gi-Ohgames ever made.
What Games are in Yu-Gi-Oh: Early Days Collection?
Reshef of Destructionisn’t looked back upon too fondly, as it is a highly contentious title among fans. Some like it because of the difficulty spike compared toThe Sacred Cards, while others believe that it’s too steep of a curve that is filled with a number of mechanics that lengthen the game’s playtime in ways that fans find frustrating. Both games having an early version of theYu-Gi-Ohcard game’s mechanics and elemental weakness system is also a point of contention between nostalgic-driven and newer fans.
There are still many fans who are happy to see theseolderYu-Gi-Ohgamesgetting remastered and brought over to new platforms. Many of these older games, specificallyDuel Monsters,Duel Monsters 2,Duel Monsters 4, andDuel Monsters 6, were released only in Japan, so some fans will be able to experience these games for the first time. With even more titles yet to be announced, fans are hoping for the return of games likeForbidden MemoriesandDungeon Dice Monstersin this collection.
